Thanks! I kinda thought they had a certain Shire-y look about them. Or maybe Rivendellish or even a bit of the mystery of Mirkwood.

Wonderful photos!

The first one especially so: those grey branches reflected (several times, it seems?) in the still water - I love it! Very graphic and intriguing. :-)

Thanks, Lissa! That first one with the grey tree trunks reflected in the water was sheer serendipity. I was walking Domino where the road crosses over this stream, and with Domino busy tugging on the leash and jerking my arm, I had to simply point the camera quickly and hope. I intended to get the trees that line the stream but snapped only the reflection instead, and it was a bit blurry ... but the more I look at it (I have it as wallpaper on my computer) 1it's actually becomeing my favorite because of the painting-like quality of it. Photography is a funny thing--I could have tried and tried to get that effect "on purpose" and never managed it.

Wow - fluky shot! Thanks, Domino. *g*

It's really good, the kind you don't tire of looking at.

You certainly do have some lovely walks round your way and you're getting very good at this photography lark, though I did't realise so much of the credit had to go to Domino!

Thanks! And unfortunately, most of the time Domino really doesn't contribute much. I've deleted a LOT of blurred shots courtesy of his impatience. But he's learning ... I tell him "sit" and that gives me about a 10 second window of opportunity to snap my shot. And really, I have to credit having a dog to walk for helping me discover some of these little out-of-the-way spots that I usually drive past without a second glance. It's amazing what you see when you go at a walking pace.

Nice shots! I particularly liked the third one - for some strange reason, I thought of Mirkwood when I saw it.. Anyway, looks like Domino's training your reflexes and photography speed! =P

I thought the same thing when I looked at that last one ... those wet, dark tree trunks always look mysterious. Our woods probably resemble Mirkwood more than Rivendell or Lorien, because a terrible ice storm about 3 years ago really wreaked havoc on the trees. Most of the trees lost limbs and many lost their tops and they're only just now starting to fill back in.

Oh, and thanks, Aranel!!

Well I sort of guessed Domino's input might be a bit on the erratic side! It'll be great to see more of the walks you go on as he gets older and can manage going further afield.

I think that's about all of the really scenic areas we'll walk past, at least from our house. However, Domino's great in the car and I imagine now and then for a change of pace I'll pop him in the car and take him to a park or something. Or maybe just down a road we've not traveled. ;)

Great pity about the trees.. All that harm done in the space of a storm, and more than 3 years needed for the damage to begin healing.. *looks pensive*

It really was awful. We lost about 8 trees that we had to have removed either by my husband or by professionals. And then out in the woods, there are still trees bent and leaning. It was very depressing that first fall afterward, because when the leaves fell, you could see all that damage again. Hopefully it will be better this fall ... we had a very rainy spring and summer that helped the trees fill out again. But it still doesn't look "right" and won't for a very long time.
