Today is the big day! There's forecasted clouds but most of Missouri's totality path will have at least "fair" conditions to see the eclipse. It's not 100% totality at our house--we're a bit south--so hubby and I are going on a road trip across the backroads until we get to an area of totality, which should be about 2.5 hours or so away (it'd be faster on the interstate but I'm expecting it to be clogged). We have our eclipse glasses (bought on Amazon but from a reputable vendor, so no worries there) and we have a picnic lunch and plenty of munchies and water. Hopefully we'll find a gas station along the way! Not even going to try taking pictures. I want to simply enjoy the event.

If clouds obscure this eclipse, we're fortunate to have a second total eclipse in only 7 years, one whose path of totality will actually be a wee bit closer to home than this one, but hopefully we'll be able to fully experience both.

Wish us luck!

Good luck to you! It's "partly cloudy" here, so hopefully we'll be able to experience our 75% eclipse.

It got slightly dim here and the temps dropped, but it was partly cloudy and not too exciting!

Sounds like such a fun day! I hope you have a great time and good weather. I was hoping we'd get to see at least a good partial eclipse - it'll be a little over 80% here - but it's been slowly clouding up this morning and now it's just started to thunder and rain, sooo... Unless we get a major change in the next couple of hours, we're probably not actually going to be able to see much of anything. XD

92% here, and when I woke this morning the island was fogged in! Happily it burnt off and we joined many of our neighbors out on the decks, with our glasses from the observatory. So cool!

we had 80% at 10:18 a.m. that is all. I did NOT go out and look as 1. no glasses and 2. seen one and 3. new eyes/lenses and suddenly super light sensitive.

I watched it on the NBC station and while I've seen this before, somehow watching it this way, I DID have a tear in my eyes. It may not be spiritual yadda yadda like some of the Californios/Oregonians are blabbing about but it was moving. I doubt I'll be alive for the 2024 but we'll see.

Have a good tip and enjoy!

Yeah, you'd have to be very careful with your "new" eyes! I'm glad you enjoyed watching online. I would have liked to have seen some of the live streaming but where we were, deep in the boonies, we had absolutely no cell signal. But the weather was perfect... post to follow!
