I was at a movie night with some other women from church this last Saturday night, and the topic of Avengers came around...I wound up trying to explain to people why Cap/Steve is such a GOOD person, and basically wound of flailing at the end. I should've just pulled up a picture of Steve making THAT FACE. :D

*giggles at your icon* That's the one! That's the face! XD Or close enough to it, anyway. I think mine was more from the moment he's showing off his shiny new shield to Peggy... but it's all in the same subgroup of Steve Rogers Goober Faces.

I'm *terrible* at explaining vocally why these characters mean so much. Whether it's Steve or Bucky or Aragorn... doesn't matter. I start out sounding reasonably intelligent and then at those first condescending nods that people who don't understand Obsessions With Fictional Characters™ give you, I stutter and stumble into frustrated silence and let the conversation move to something else. *sigh*

I don't understand why so many people don't *get it*.

It was an interesting dynamic, because I had two or three women (including Cami, of course) who GOT what I was saying and helped me out with a general attitude of "AMEN PREACH SISTER"...and a couple who really didn't get fannish obsession AT ALL. So it was a mixed response, which is definitely better than wading into those deep waters with no backup. XD
