...but I have been ON GUARD all day. TORn's post didn't get me. The local radio station didn't get me. Nothing and no one has got me.

And yet... and yet...

ANSON MOUNT.  ANSON FRIGGIN' MOUNT.

Anson Mount got me.

*hangs head in shame*
*giggles insanely*

He tweeted this:

The whosay link takes you to the "press release" here. I followed the link, and right away saw the word "mountain walrus". Uh huh. So I skimmed down below, and sure enough, there he is with that sh*t-eating grin...

...and I knew we'd all been had.

What's so brilliant about his prank is that this show usually *is* on the bubble as far as renewals, so it doesn't take much to send us loyal fans into a panic. I even kept in mind the date when I read the stupid tweet... but I still couldn't stop that initial horrid split second of feeling my stomach drop to my toes.

I tip my cowboy hat to you, Anson. You got us all good.

I was on guard, and no one got me. :)
The best one I saw was in one Croatian Facebook group for astronomy: that one old ESA satellite was to crash down right on Croatia! :)

Hubby told me the best one he saw and nearly fell for was an article in an aeronautics journal saying that NASA somehow had switched out names of the Enterprise and Columbia space shuttles for their entire run. He was reading it with a growing sense of 'wait, that can't be, all the part numbers would be messed up and the maintenance records and... oh, it must be an April Fool's joke." LOL So I didn't feel so bad if my never-fooled hubby nearly fell for one.

Hee hee... it's a brilliant one, isn't it. :D There are people still asking today if the show's been cancelled, so he really did get a lot of folks. LOL

And oh golly, are you sure you want to get me started! I absolutely LOVE this show. It's been on for 3 seasons and the 4th starts in August (despite what Anson says!). It's a western, of sorts, but instead of cowboys it's about the building of the railroad across the US in 1860s. Really compelling stuff, they don't take *too* many liberties with history but the ones they do make sense. And best of all, at least for me, is they don't inject a heavy layer of modern-day moralism... they present these people as people of their time, some good, some bad, some enlightened, some not, and most a combination of everything. It feels very real and very honest in that regard--no characters are included as "stock" characters (no "oh, he fought for the Confederacy, therefore he's evil" or "he was with the Union, therefore he's Above Reproach", "she's a Christian, so she's a prude" stuff). The acting is nothing short of tremendous, and Anson Mount... my word, he's a revelation! He's handsome as heck, but he's also an actor in the same class as Viggo, IMHO. Lots of subtle things he does with body language and eyes, etc. Doesn't need to fill up a scene with chatter. He simply *is* Cullen Bohannon just as Viggo *is* Aragorn. If you can find the show, I highly recommend it! (You do, though, have to tune your ear to American South dialect... Anson is from Tennessee, and though when you see him in interviews, he sounds sort of "regionally free" when he talks, but as Cullen, he lays on a Mississippi accent that's as thick as the mud they grow the cotton in. I'm used to hearing authentic Southern accents, living where I do, but there's times when I have to back up and listen again... and I realize, "Yep. That's how they say it down there.")

As for me, I'm doing fine. *TRYING* to get some stuff written but not succeeding with any speed. Still waiting on my May 5 surgery. ENJOYING SPRING at last! The weather has finally broke here and it's warm most days, with some cooler days mixed in, and the spring thunderstorm season is starting. All good stuff. :)

*hugs* I hope you're doing well!

OOOh thanks for the info. Golly.. he sounds great as does the series and I do adore that treacly So'thn Aksent. aaah.

Looks like a dvd purchase again if it's on Amazon. I'm keeping them going!!! I don't think I've seen anything at all like it on the french tv even with their funny titles. And anyway, often they dub them and the So'thn voice would NOT go well with french!!

And handsome is... is handsome, and very very ....meeeeeeeepish.
(Squeaks to self!!) (See -- Fred had a beard almost like that... and oooooh god..... Yep!!)

Bless you, and so glad it's all going along. I'm having my bottom teeth out on Friday and to be honest despite being terrified I am going to be so GLAD when it's over. At least I've persuaded them to knock me unconscious before they even THINK about doing anything!
But also, the Muse came to visit today! How super - cos my legs won't work very well - it's the humidity today!

LOVE and HUGS and bowls of spring v-flowers!!!!!!

And handsome is... is handsome, and very very ....meeeeeeeepish.

I think he's the best looking "grungy hero" since Aragorn. *meeeeps with you*

I'll think good thoughts and prayers for your teeth ordeal... yikes, I don't blame you one little bit for wanting knocked out first! May it all go well! And may the humidity ease up so you're back on your feet in the meantime! *hugs*

Hee hee... it was terrific fun yesterday, watching the comments to see how many got duped. *g*

The annual TORn post was that PJ had signed Leonard Nimoy to sing the closing credit song on the last Hobbit movie. I haven't looked, but I'm sure a lot of people fell for it!

Mwahaha! Since I know the song this likely refers to, I can imagine the - hmm - let's say surprise. *gggg*
I tried to send Siljan into April (this is the way we say it in German, to send somebody into April) but failed. That uncooperative man listened carefully to what I was saying for once, and spotted it rigth away! *g*

I hope you do! I've always had a soft spot for both Civil War (US) era and westward expansion history, so it hits both my sweet spots (and all three if you include my penchant for grungy, long-haired handsome heroes...)

Bitlord is happily chomping away on S1, and oh my goodness, grungy long-haired handsome heroes; he's not at all painful to watch *g* Now I have to find the time to watch of course (since I've also got S1 of Vikings waiting and am watching Cosmos, as well as still working on that Buffy re-run... )
