Alas, there was no Golden Globe Award love for Viggo last night (what does the Foreign Press Association know, anyway *humph*), but still... we will forever have Aragorn!
It is a really nice saddle. *g* Or at least, I guess it is. I don't really know much about what makes a saddle a good one, but that one certainly is pretty!
I liked that they bothered to give him an appropriate saddle for mounted combat. Here is a picture of a similar saddle for bullfighting--you can see how it has sort of "boards" in the front and back to help keep the rider from sliding out of his/her seat.
The movie producers could have just used a modern riding saddle instead of giving Aragorn an extremely cool medieval saddle. :)
I was thinking that it did look like a very good deep-seated saddle that would be hard to fall out of. I didn't know it was actually a medieval saddle design, though. Definitely very cool of them to include that detail.
