Best description ever....

CJ Box has a new book out today, a thriller called The Back of Beyond, and I read an excerpt from the first chapter and came across this gem:

"Olson was short, solid, and shaved bald; a flesh-colored fire hydrant who entered a room like a quiet exclamation point."

I can't wait to read this book, just to find out more about this Olson dude!  But alas, I'll have to wait a while because I'm 8th on the list at the library.

Hee! I love it! Very modern-day-Dickens of him. I adore and admire authors that can make you see a character with a few well-chosen words. And when said description makes you giggle, too, that's just double WIN. :D

Well, the nearest I can figure is that he doesn't say much but is one of these people who sort of radiate an attention-gathering presence, by sheer dint of force of personality, or maybe even by sheer beauty, though in this case I'm willing to bet he's no Viggo Mortensen! LOL

A most imaginative, funny and elusive description. It works you know. It makes you wonder what the character is really like.
