Secretary/support staff at a university - i.e. everything from 'copy this 150 times' to assisting with conferences, maintaining webpages, coaching a trainee, editing a magazine and proofreading books and academic articles (and yes, a lot of academics need a beta *g*); very varied and not many dull moments (on occasion quite a few too many stressful ones).
Summer's usually fairly quiet, though not as quiet as it used to be:-\
Ah, yes... I am very familiar with that job as I did something similar when I was in college lo those many years ago (back when "I need 150 copies of this" meant, because using a xerox machine was too expensive for runs over 100, typing a stencil and then running it on a mimeograph machine whose ink dispenser regularly got stuck on "open" and thus would spray the entire room with ink if one wasn't watching out!)
And yes, professors often need betas! Of course, back then we called ourselves "proofreaders". :)
I'm glad I merely have to wrestle the copier into submission, even if that on occasion involves toner powder everywhere or having to extract paper from around very hot internal parts.
