Twosday and other issues....

Hey there hi there ho there...

LJ is messed up again... why, I don't know.   But I decided since it was moving in fits and starts to try a cross-post from DW ...aaaand ...it didn't work.  And then I found a notice over there that says cross-posting with LJ is a little balky at the moment.  *sigh*  But the A-a-day *is* posted over there, and I will repost it here if it doesn't ever show up on its own.  (EDIT: or you can just go over to my DW account here to see it if you don't want to wait...)

Posting pics at DW is a bit of a pain, but not impossible, I found.  I just have to go to photobucket first, grab the codes and then past them in myself, whereas here at LJ you just hit buttons and it takes you straight to photobucket and lets you "paste media" all from the comfy recliner of LJ.  I'm soooooo hoping that getting photo capabilities upgraded at DW is high on their list... although I think at the moment that DW is a little overwhelmed by the mass panic importing of everyone's LJ content.  Which makes me think that maybe everyone should hold off on importing for a week or two and let things settle down a bit on both ends.  Of course, I realize I'm only making that suggestion to about, um, 30 people, not all of whom even have DW accounts, and there are probably 3 million people madly hitting "import content" over at DW, but hey... I said my piece to the audience I have. LOL

And in case the "official" A-a-day never shows up, here's a second one.  Hey, why not turn all this headache-inducing mess in our favor, right?  Look at four Aragorn pics today?   Works for me.  *g*  And yes, these are smaller... I didn't want to scare you with too much SpookyGorn! *g*  The ones at DW are related but different pics.

I was beginning to think LJ's down again, but after 5 attempts it finally let me log in. *grumbles* I really hope this is going to improve soon! I'm getting the impression poor DW is a bit overwhelmed at the moment, too. It seems they took the import function down yesterday, but it's up again now. I won't try importing anything right now, though.

Back to the really important things. *g* I so love the Strider-scenes at the Prancing Pony! *happy sigh*

Yeah, things are a bit of a mess at both places right now, sadly. But I'm ever the optimist and expect things will calm down eventually. *crossing fingers*

I haven't even attempted to do anything at DW since, if it failed, I wouldn't know if it was me bungling it or the overload causing the failure.

Apparently it's all part of the overload of everything over there and here at LJ that's to blame for the cross-posting not working. But I did add the link to that DW entry in case I never get around to crossposting it here.

(And to further the weirdness... my emailed LJ notice for this comment showed it coming from Almut, which is why my original reply gave you the DW link again, as I didn't bother glancing up at the actual posted version of your comment to see if it was from you or from her!)

Can you upload pictures from your computer into your DW post, like here on LJ?

If you mean does DW have photo storage, then no. Uploading straight into the post from my computer, probably, though I've never tried it that way either here or with DW. I liked having the back up for my photos at LJ's scrapbook, and now at Photobucket. And DW is eventually going to tweak their photo handling, so for what few photo posts I do over there I'll just draw from my Photobucket albums.

JL has been fine for me since about Thursday or Friday - occasionally a touch slower loading, but mainly fine. So it looks as if the DDOS attacks are being less successful - not managing to clobber it outright. This doesn't help you, if yours is patchy - but is, I think, generally positive!

Yes, it does seem that, despite LJ limping a bit from its injuries, the attack didn't bring the entire thing down. Whew.

Heh heh, I've been thinking I should all my journal stuff moved over there for safekeeping, but given all the issues going on... decided to wait a bit for things to (hopefully) even out, rather than adding to the problem. I did an independent backup of the most important things, so I don't need to freak out if something dire does happen, at least. :3

LJ was bad for me yesterday too and I was half-afraid that it was my computer since the few people that I asked said that LJ was working fine for them. But apparently the glitches come in fits and batches and they affect not everyone at the same time?

I really should start putting some of my old posts over there at DW but I'm so lazy!

I saw that you have a DW account now... thanks for adding me! :) And yeah, LJ's been a little fitful this week, to say the least. Sometimes it works fine for me and other times it's gotten really glitchy.
