Here's your belated gift fic, rs9 !  I hope you enjoy my somewhat offbeat interpretation. :)

“... and no, my stew did not make Denlad sick, I care not what he claims!”

Denlad merely glared at Aragorn as he hurried past them and dove into the bushes.  As Eledh chuckled and Galadh frowned at the sounds coming from the brush, Halbarad glanced at Aragorn.  Though Aragorn’s expression was hard to read, he could hazard a fairly safe guess that beneath his very real concern and very feigned outrage, Aragorn was hiding no small amount of embarrassment.  For he knew, just as Halbarad did, that his cooking skills were deplorable. 

It had been the stew, and no mistake.

Nah - definitely his brothers - and Glorfindel - The Prof says somewhere that cooking is mainly the work of the ellyn...! I sort of see it as all barbecues...

Which actually supports my theory. :) And yes, I imagine it probably was mostly BBQ's, out there in the wilds... although I think when they could, they'd try a stew for variety's sake, much to Denlad's gastronomic chagrin!

Yep... I've always figured Aragorn rarely had the time to devote to learning cooking beyond the barest of basics. And it *could* be that Denlad and Halbarad are being a little hard on Aragorn... Denlad is the only one sick, after all! *g*

THIS IS HILARIOUS! Looking at Aragorn's face and reading this..everything just fits. This is great! Thanks so much. I thoroughly enjoyed this! Shame on Rivendell indeed! Hopefully Arwen will be able to remedy this situation. Thanks cairistiona! I LOVE IT.

Yay! So glad you liked it! It was really tricky coming up with a reason why Aragorn and Galadh looked concerned and Halbarad and Eledh looked amused. And Aragorn... as usual, there's about seventeen different emotions going on in those eyes of his, never mind how to interpret the quirky almost-smile (how Viggo did that, I've no idea, and how you've managed to capture that with your drawing is equally awesome). But this silly little thing seemed to work. And yes, hopefully by the time he gets married and is King he can either give up cooking entirely, or learn how to make a few dishes properly! *g*

I don't either, really. *g* And I have a feeling the rest of the men, though they apparently survived the meal, wish that he'd stick to the clearing up and leave the cooking to them!
