My mother was so disappointed, at the end of ROTK, when Aragorn was suddenly all shampooed and un-scruffified. I think she preferred 'Strider' to 'Elessar'. :)

I have to say I have similar leanings to your mother--I prefer scruffy to scrubbed, on the whole!
