I guess the Rohirrim had seen Gandalf puffing away long before Aragorn turned up. It does make him look serious and thoughtful, doesn't it.

I did expect that to happen! It's a good thing Tolkien had Aragorn smoking a pipe and not cigars! Hm, political correctness aside, there's something really wrong about imagining a ranger or a wizard smoking a cigar. LOL!

I never thought I'd see anybody look so good smoking a pipe. I grew up inhaling that gross stuff. My grandfather smoked a pipe while my dad smoked his cigarette at the same time, whether it be in the house or in the car with the windows down...gross!!! But I'll make an exception for Aragorn.

Hee hee... you know, I grew up around the same thing, with my uncle's pipe and my parents both smoking cigarettes (though my parents quit when I was about 4, I think... whenever the warnings came out, at any rate). I still like the smell of pipe tobacco but I can't tolerate cigarette smoke at all.
