*sniff* That's such a wonderful, touching scene and also so sad! Boromir is one of the things I loved better in the movies than in the books - his death didn't make much of an impression on me in the books, because he really annoyed me from the moment he showed up in Rivendell (sorry, J.R.R.!). ;-) I never expected to like movie!Boromir so much. :)

Sean Bean played that role so well, didn't he? He really brought Boromir to life, and heartbreaking though it was, to a poignant death as well.

Amen to all you said! Sean Bean was absolutely perfect for that role and his interaction with Viggo was the cherry on the cake. *happy sigh*

Though FOTR is not my favourite film, Boromir's death scene is most certainly my favourite scene of the entire trilogy. Both actors gifted us with such an outstanding perfomance, that they turned a scene which the potential of being totally schmaltzy into a very moving one.

It really could have been cheesy and over the top, but they both showed enough restraint to make it incredibly moving instead. One of the best death scenes in any movie ever.

It's so moving, it's hard for me to even watch it. *sniff*

Except that it's a master class in acting, it would be nearly impossible for me to watch, too. I almost have to step back and watch it in terms of Viggo and Sean and their skills as actors and *not* as Aragorn and Boromir, if that makes sense.

My thoughts exactly. It most definitely clinched my love of FOTR.

I hate this scene because of how it makes me feel every time. So well done by both actors. I'm like you were I have to remember that they are just "acting" it out. There was an interview with Sean Bean when he said that he and Viggo went out to lunch and then had to come back and do this scene and Viggo just nailed it....so I remind myself of that interview!

Aha... the real reason for Boromir's sudden loyalty: Aragorn had just bought lunch! *g*
