This is what happens when you're waiting for the Appaloosa movie to come out and they haven't even released a dadgum trailer yet, and when you're 118th on the library list for the next Everett Hitch novel and you're in desperate need of a Viggo-in-a-new-Western fix.
I've had Photoshop on my computer for quite some time now and I've been too intimidated by it to actually do anything with it.  But yesterday I decided to play around a bit.  I was going for the "unearthed a picture of Everett Hitch from Great Great Grandpa's attic" and I think it came out fairly well.  Heaven knows how I actually did it or if I could ever be able to replicate it--Photoshop doesn't seem to be the most intuitive program and although I sort of understood what I was doing, there was a lot more that I didn't really "get" but managed only by blindly following directions in one of my equally-incomprehensible Photoshop how-to books.

I really hope the movie comes out soon ... and those 117 people who have Resolution in their hot little hands read fast.  Photoshopping Viggo is fun, but seeing him as Everett Hitch will be a whole lot more fun.

This really does look like a 19th century sepia shot. It all sounds too complicated for me, but what fun you could have with this [if you could ever figure it out!]

As for 'Appaloosa', I've not read the story but it doesn't matter. I just want to see Viggo charging about on a horse again!

Exactly! And that's a very nice userpic you've got of our Viggo doing just that. I'm watching Hidalgo right now (again!) and that's another great one for seeing him charging about on a horse. I'm always amazed, watching him as Frank T. Hopkins, how so very different he is in that role than Aragorn, even down to the way he walked and the way he sort of slouched his shoulders, etc. Very much the opposite of a king-to-be. He really is that rare actor who can utterly disappear into a character.

You are so right. I had never seen Viggo in anything until LOTR but I've watched several of his other films since. He is totally different every time and it takes quite a stretch of the imagination sometimes to even remember him as Aragorn. Talking him into taking that role was certainly one of PJ's best moves!

I love this image in my userpic as he has the horse so perfectly yet effortlessly balanced. It's a pleasure to watch an actor ride so well.
