Saturday passed by very peacefully. Hubby did the week's grocery shopping in the morning and then had a completely lazy day, watching a lot of television. He then went with Dink while she did what little back-to-uni shopping she had remaining, and that was pretty much the day. I laundered the towels, did some reading, and took some photos.

Mushrooms! The back yard is a hobbit's paradise right now (though I have no idea if any of these are edible).

Also, blooms!

This is just one bunch of surprise lilies. We have several such mini-swathes dotting the landscape in addition to the "time lapse" ones I already showed you, and they fill the air with a lovely perfume. They're every bit as dependable as daffodils--I think I'll lift and divide a few clumps so I have even more:

The tilted pots are almost invisible under the impatiens I planted in them:

They were slow to start but they've definitely made up all the lost ground now.

Today is more slow laziness. We might go for a drive later, or maybe go for a swim. I have a hockey game to watch, as well, which I will DVR if we decide to go for a Sunday drive this afternoon. Once again, the forecasters got it wrong and we're having a bit of clouds and rain that's keeping them temperatures from the dire heat they had said would hit this weekend. No complaints!

Your Sunday plans/accomplishments?

We were supposed to get a good thunderstorm this afternoon - 4:15 pm or so. Then it was moved up to 2:15 PM. It actually hit about 12:30 pm. That squibbed the day completely.

So frustrating when it rearranges all your plans!

I love all the wonderful variety that mushrooms come in. So many great shapes and colors. :D And so many lilies! It's neat that they grow in such full bunches - they really look like naturally occurring bouquets.

Had a very fun afternoon here. Nef and I were able to get together with our close friend who got married in December, who we haven't seen since... February, I think? due to plague-related plan cancellation. SO nice to finally have a good sit down while she was in town.

I only wish that morels grew as freely as these "hamburger bun" ones (as I call them... I have no idea if they're edible or what kind they are--I only eat morels, because they're so distinctive. I don't nibble on ones where the difference between toxic and edible is the number of gills on the underside or whether they're attached or not or split or any of the myriad too-subtle signs! I just admire the aesthetic this time of year. :)

I look at all those "bouquets" and think how lovely it would be to have hundreds more and then hold an outdoor wedding amongst them. *dreamy sigh*

Oooh, getting together with friends sounds like an impossible dream these days. Our covid count just keeps climbing and climbing, so I'm not even expecting to be able to do Thanksgiving or Christmas at this point. Too many people here are just too stubborn, selfish and stupid to wear masks or try to flatten the curve. *sigh*

I do believe they grow in the UK, so perhaps one of these days you can find some--they're so common here that usually you can get a start for free from a neighbor. That's how I got mine, iirc. Perhaps when the pandemic finally ends, you can track some down.

Thank you! It's not Kensington Gardens or the Missouri Botanical Garden, but it suits us. :)

I suppose one person at some point did at least ask the question, "Hmm, is this bright white mushroom edible?" *g*
