Just put this on loop all day for maximum stress relief:

Checking in stuff:
Dink is heading back to work today, so long as she doesn't have a fever this morning. Whatever little bug she had/has, it isn't Covid-19, so she may as well get back to the preschool to help. She also is working out an arrangement with the parents of her two favorite boys to watch the older one, whose school is closed, at their home during the day while they're working from home (they're both lawyers). She'd be setting up his homeschool schedule and helping him with the curriculum his school has sent home, plus keeping him out of their hair while they work. So even if the preschool shuts down, she has employment lined up (and would make far more money, actually). Her own online university classes won't be starting for another week and a half, so she has time to set up a study area for that. She's thinking of using a space in the basement, but also thinking she might just hang out on her bed to watch the lectures and do all the things 18-credit hours online will require. We'll probably spend a bit of time today or tomorrow setting up the basement so she has both options available. She's going to be a very busy gal, I think, once classes start.

Hubby is still going to work, as well. He's always a bit stressed with his job, but the virus has made it even worse, as it has all of us. His go-to when he's stressed is silence and burying himself in TV, so I'm just giving him space to do that in the evenings. I ask him enough to let him vent, but I know how it is to *not* want to rehash all your problems aloud every evening when you just need to take a break from thinking about it.

My sister up in St Louis is doing well during all of this. You might recall she was laid off back before Christmas. She's been job-hunting and has had a few interviews but no offers, and now we're both seeing it as a blessing because she can simply stay home and collect unemployment checks for quite some time (she just has to make contacts with businesses about jobs to keep unemployment eligible). Her condominium is paid for, as is her car, and she really only has limited expenses, so she's set for quite some time. Seeing as she turns 60 in May and has a few underlying issues that could be problematic, she's very happy to stay home. She's also like me in that she *prefers* to stay home. *g* Today, though, she's having a man come to install a new bathtub (hers had cracked), but keeping social distance in a situation like that should be easy enough. She can just stay in the living room or her bedroom while they get on with things. I'm she'll be texting progress photos all day. (And even as I typed that, she sent me her "before" photos and yikes, the tub really is in terrible shape XD)

Question of the day: what is your favorite dessert/sweet treat? Mine is probably a big warm brownie (sans nuts) with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. If I didn't care if I gained 800 pounds, I could eat that every day and twice on Sundays. *sigh*

Any brownie, iced or not, nuts or not, is better than any other dessert. My second choice would be chocolate cake. :)

I prefer to stay home, too. My brother can't sit still for a second, but I'm more of a happy hermit.

I'll take chocolate over any other flavor every time... and the gooey-fudgy-crispy-crunchy brownie is king over all. *g*

My favorite recipe makes a 9"x13" pan's worth - that should be enough for two people . . . . :D

I love chocolate anything but I'm also very fond of fresh strawberries or raspberries.

I do have to draw the line at anything with coconut flakes. I hate the way they feel. :P (However, I happily accept pina coladas....)

That video literally made me laugh out loud. :D

Glad your family's in good shape for the time being, despite stress all this uncertainty can bring!

It is SO hard for me to choose favorite desserts because it changes all the time for me. Lots Of Chocolate is a consistent theme, though. *g* During the winter it trends more toward the warm, baked things, where in warmer times I'm more likely to go for something that has a cool/cold component, at least, whether that's an ice-cream-based cake or something with a cream/pudding layer, etc. Variety of textures tends to be a big factor in how much I enjoy desserts. (But also - YES to brownies being superior without nuts. TBH, I like most nuts quite a bit, but walnuts and pecans almost always make things worse.)

I'm going to try to find cute vids to post each day. They're nice stress relievers. :)

I can eat ice cream year round, but yes, heavy baked goods in the summer aren't as satisfying as they are in the fall or winter. (Read: I'll eat a smaller brownie with a bigger scoop of ice cream in the summer XD)

i had some brands of chocolate biscuits that i liked, there were some cakes that i liked, and as for chocolate, my favorite is milka filled with strawberry cream. but i stopped eating sweets 2 years ago. my problem was - blemishes. always, always, always. no matter what i used for cleaning my face. and then i stopped eating sweets... and guess what was the outcome?

True! Nothing like a bad reaction to a certain food or ingredient to put you off for life!

This comment is brought to you by the dad who raked all those leaves into a giant pile, gosh durn it.

I'm glad to hear "you and yours" are still trucking along, though sorry to hear about the added stress this has brought on you all. Not surprised, and will be thinking about you all, surely. I am lucky in that I can easily work from home and am a true introvert, have no kids and family life to balance into the equation, etc., but even so: this week has been a world-class adjustment even under those favorable circumstances.

LOL... I would think the first time that dog trashed the leaf pile, filming it in the hopes of going viral probably wasn't the owner's first reaction. *g*

It is definitely an adjustment for everyone, on many levels. Even for me staying at home with less risk than many, I still worry that Dink or hubby will get sick with it and then we'll all be in a pickle because chances are we'd all catch it. But I can't let my mind spiral down any further than having a roughed-out plan for dealing with one of us falling ill with it (the person will live in the basement part of the house and use that bathroom, and food will be lowered down daily in a bucket through an opening in the ceiling, oubliette-style. Now I just have to convince hubby to build such a door.... *G*)
