Fandom Snowflake, Day 7

I'm saving the ones I've skipped for catching up on later, but this one I wanted to do because it also covers one of my New Year's resolutions, the one about making sure I sketch more and making sure I don't let the desire for perfection overwhelm my efforts.

Day 7

In your own space, create a fanwork. Make a drabble, a ficlet, a podfic, or an icon, art or meta or a rec list. Arts and crafts. Draft a critical essay about a particular media. Put together a picspam or a fanmix. Write a review of a Broadway show, a movie, a concert, a poetry reading, a museum trip, a you-should-be-listening-to-this-band essay. Compose some limericks, haikus, free-form poetry, 5-word stories. Document a particular bit of real person canon. Take some pictures. Draw a stick-figure comic. Create something. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Created this over on tumblr, in response to the extremely bitter cold weather we're experiencing in my part of the US this past week. I was cold and begged for Warm!Bucky headcanons and got so many lovely ones it made me doodle my own. :)

Warm Bucky wrapped in a blanket and wearing the fuzzy socks Tony gave him (thank you anon for that), sitting in front of Steve’s fire, too sleepy to keep reading but too happy and content to move. So he’s just sitting there in the moment, totally at peace… and Steve’s over on the couch laughing at his loopy expression.

Pencil on paper, sketched out while watching the first two episodes of Luke Cage on Netflix (which I loved... Luke is so... classy). The background is basically taken from the Captain America's fireplace holiday video Marvel put out this Christmas. If I ever get a Wacom or another digital art device thing like it, I might go back and re-create it as something more comic-booky. Who knows. But for now, it stands as an exercise in stretching my skills a little and sharing without waiting for it to be 'perfect'.

Awww, so adorable. Warm!Bucky is the best Bucky. I also love the face details. Faces are so hard, but you managed Bucky's so well. I'm impressed!

Thank you! Faces are so hard and I usually have to do a lot of erasing, but this one surprisingly came together without the usual agony (and I always have a fear that it will never happen again XD)

What a lovely, intimate scene. I adore the contentedness on his face and how snuggly he looks. It's especially awesome, since it's SO COLD HERE! Fabulous!

I *love* Bucky fluff fic and art where he's being taken care of, whether on his own or by someone else (I'm especially drawn to ones where he's taking care of himself, since he had to do that for those two years post-CATWS; there's just something so very strong about him doing little things for himself like fixing his first batch of pancakes in 70 years or finding warm and soft clothes to wear or buying plums... *happy sigh* I can't get enough of it.)

Oh man! Now I've got this image in my head of Bucky realizing that he can have nice things, like plums. That no one is going to tell him 'no' or take it away from him. Lke, he doesn't approach the stand the first time he sees them, and when he finally gets up the nerve, he keeps looking over his shoulder, until finally he's like, fuck you, I'm eating a gosh darned plum! *hugs*

Headcanon 100% accepted! I kind of have him doing that in a story, actually, though not about plums. (Shadow Boy over on Ao3). He's very shy about approaching a vendor (an old woman who crochets doilies and sells them), speaks very softly, hurries away before she can ask questions... but keeps coming back to watch from a distance, because watching her crochet pings some good emotions connected to a warm childhood memory that he hasn't quite remembered fully. I can see him doing just as you describe with the plum vendor, too. Those plums just look too good to keep passing up!

You got some great headcanons last night! I enjoyed reading them. And I love the fuzzy striped socks!

I'm trying to put together a picspam, but Photobucket is uncooperative, and I really don't want to trust it to LJ scrapbook. (I looked at some tutorials for Tumblr moodboards/aesthetics and nope, don't really want to go there today, maybe some other time.)

Photobucket has been a pain lately. They seem more interested in trying to get everyone to buy products than to keeping their website running properly. As for tumblr and moodboards/aesthetics... those take forever to put together. Or at least they do for me! I like looking at them but they're too tedious for me at this point in life. XD

I do have goals for my sketches... those "perfect" ones like hyper-realistic drawings etc, but yes, in the mean time, why not have a lot of fun with less-than-technical perfection but that still tell a good emotional story? That was my aim with this one and I feel good that I hit the mark with it.
