Christmas music time!

Time again for my annual Christmas music vid-a-day tradition. (Also, mildly panicking that it's already Dec 1... although I do have *most* of my Christmas shopping done and the house is decorated, so I'm actually ahead of the game. I do not, however, have all 25 Christmas music videos picked out yet, which may be why I'm panicking).

It's impossible not to love "Charlie Brown Christmas". That catchy tune always has me bopping along with it.

Although there are many holiday songs, carols, and much music, here's one that always makes my heart stop from the simple, incredible beauty of it. It's music like this that makes me wish, sometimes, that I walked this pathway. But I can take the notes and visualize them soaring in a tall forest or cascading down a waterfall and I know that the specific path doesn't matter, it's the acknowledgement of something beyond that really counts.

I think "Linus and Lucy" is probably my favorite piece of Christmas music. It's so cheerful and so strongly connected to my childhood... I smile every time I hear it. :)

That's a beautiful rendition... I think I'll add that to the playlist for a later post with the poem that it's based on as well. Thanks for sharing!

Ha! That's the music I hear each time I think about Snoopy and Charlie Brown. The ultimate Charlie music!

It really is iconic for Snoopy and Charlie Brown, just as the yearly Christmas special is (which we have on the DVR since it aired while we were watching another must-see show). I loved Peanuts so much as a kid that it brings back all the warm fuzzies for me. :)

I popped over to my coworker's cubicle today and we were comparing favorite Christmas albums...this was his and it's definitely at the top of my list! I shared mine with him and the subject heading of his email response was "Dumb Sufjan Album for Dumb Monthlong Holiday," which tells you how he feels about my fave, lol.

ETA this was one of the last pieces of piano music I learned before I quit in middle school...I could probably still remember the chords if pressed!

I salute you for learning Linus & Lucy... I could do the left hand, or the right hand, but I could never put them together. LOL

I admit, I had to google Sufjan Christmas music and his stuff is very interesting. Some of it is beautiful and some is a little too "made in the basement with Owl City" for my tastes (and then there was "Particle Physics", which is... yeah. um. so that happened.), but I've added a couple to my LJ Christmas music party playlist. :)

That is about my attitude towards Sufjan's music, both Christmas and otherwise...some of it I adore and others are just...woof, hard to listen to. But he definitely awakens the illinois pride too!
