Actually this page is driving me mad with nostalgia... its got all my dreamy lurv stuff from my goopy adolescence on. Unchained Melody... and Frankie and ....gaaah.
I sorta figured mentally reviewing the music ... that was my youth as well! LOL Oh and mum's favs of the time, The Inkspots. Can't even remember what they sang about now. haha
The Ink Spots!! Oh gosh, they were so good. I can never decide if I like their "We'll Meet Again" or Vera Lynn's better. *sad sigh* Those WWII songs give me such feels.
I was always an old soul. I listened to Big Band music a lot when I was in high school in the 80s. Still do, in fact. "I'll Be Seeing You" by Billie Holliday kills me. I love the sad and slow stuff of loss and longing, and the peppy, happy stuff meant to bolster spirits... it's all so stirring to me.
WW2... my mum and I (mum lurrrved Big Bands) were in to Frank Sinatra. I bought her some albums (which she lost??? ) but I have now something like 400 or so of his songs. I used to have a bunch of old 45's and 33's with "the old music". hahaha Dad was in to Jazz and Blues. I had a good musical education for all that (leaning more toward classical in the end). But while Mum loved Nat King Cole I love his brother, Freddie.
