;o) Speaking of: we had friends visiting on Saturday who know the movies, but aren't fans the kind we are. We were joking around a bit, spoke about the ending of the first Hobbit film, and the scene where Smaug opens his eye in the heap of gold and emits that low bass tank-like rumble. Siljan suddenly said: "This sound always makes me think of Smaug as Sauron's moped." No matter how much mindbleach I use, I can't get rid of this image...
Yeaahhhh I went looking since you asked. Only ebay (and from China). The price, believe it or not, is reasonable considering it's 1:6th, nearly the same size as my statues from Weta which went for a lot more than that!
*sighs with you* Very pretty piece of artwork but, as you say, Dink is college bound. Mayhap someday?
The price *is* reasonable... just not for the current state of my finances! Maybe it will stay reasonable. *fingers crossed*
You never know how collectibles will run on the "after market". The "Art of Captain America: The First Avenger" book sold for about $40 when it first came out. After the success of the 2nd and 3rd Cap movies, it's jumped anywhere from $90 to $500 depending on when and where you find it. After Cap 3 came out, it spiked to about $500 for a good used version, though it's since come down in price. Either way, it's something that's gaining value. I have a feeling this statue will do the same... and that if there's ever a special anniverary release of the movie, the value will spike again. Now is *probably* a good time to try to find Aragorn stuff. It all comes down to that pesky 'how much money can I spend' question that always seems to be answered with "NONE!" LOL
