12 inches overnight tonight, plus another 12 during the day tomorrow, plus wind gusts to 40 mph. *sigh* I don't mind snow, but I really don't need a winter's worth in 24 hours!
Last year (our first year living here) we got a sequence of storms, about 6 inches each, and maybe one or two 8 inch ones. But one year my daughter (who's lived here 10 years) got 24 inches in one day! So, it happens *eep*
It's pretty rare here, probably about once every 7-10 years, that we get a lot of snow, and rarer still when it comes with blizzard winds (I've lived in the Ozarks for roughly 30 years and a true blizzard has only hit one time, about 3-4 years ago). Weather certainly seems to be getting wilder all the time.
Weather certainly seems to be getting wilder all the time. All very true! We were close to 70 degrees at Christmas. This will actually be the first bit of snow we've had all season.
It's going to be bad! Even here in Calif. the news is alerting to cancelled flights, hotels, travel; this is not good! Drums beating for all friends and others out in that neck of the woods. Be safe y'all!
Definitely going to mess up lives for a couple weeks. :( I've been watching the Weather Channel and all the emergency management news conferences... hopefully people will heed the warnings and admonitions, especially about keeping off the roads.
It's interesting, where I live there are never news conferences about these kinds of events. We don't get blizzards, but I guess we get so many other kinds of natural disasters here that the government just assumes everyone knows what to do by now. Which is more or less true.
