Probably the gentlest break-up of an unrequited love affair in history. Poor Eówyn... good thing Faramir is waiting, even though neither of them know it yet!

Considering Arwen wasn't even a blip on the radar when the Prof was working on this, yeah, nice breakup.
"...but a shadow and a thought" is a very good line though and golly, she really didn't love him so much as be in love with the *idea* of loving him. She's so young!
I think she did better with the steward though, gained a princessdom (LOL) and could happily raise children and horses, forgetting all about death and war.

I absolutely agree, he is so gentle and kind in this, and this conveys also so well in the movie.

Have nothing to say against those very expressive eyes!

In the end, as much as I love our Aragorn, I think Faramir was better for her! ;)

I bet she felt this in RL too. Who could not be in love with Vig/Aragorn

When I was reading the books, I was actually hoping for a breakup because I was so into Aragorn myself. But for some reasons I don't mind Arwen at all and devoured their love story in the appendices, wishing for more!!
