I've tried and tried to figure out just what it is I love about a h/c scene and a hero fainting etc etc and I've pretty much given up. I don't know if it's seeing the hero in a vulnerable state or seeing friends/loved ones care for them or what, but it's always been a Thing for me. And I guess a lot of people, from the popularity of h/c fics!
