Gosh, I'm so woefully behind in... everything. I'm feeling better, though, so that of course means I have all kinds of laundry and cleaning and just *stuff* piled up waiting to be tackled. I made a good dent in All The Things on Sunday, but Monday I was reminded my stamina isn't *quite* there yet. >.<   Nothing dire, just that getting my Dad's weekly groceries yesterday left me a lot more wiped out than it normally does. So, today is a stay-home day where I'm going to take it a little easier and, fingers crossed, get caught up on some writing, which I haven't done since my surgery because Brain Fog. Ugh. It takes a while for anesthesia to make its way out of the body, and then of course there's the whole "body is sucking up energy for healing so, Brain, you're just gonna have to take a number" thing. And Brain meanwhile is bouncing around in my skull using up its precious energy resources blurting random things at me like, "ARAGORN WHAT ABOUT ARAGORN THERE'S NOT MUCH ARAGORN H/C OUT THERE WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY???????????"

or, "BOWEN!!! BOWEN AND HIS COWS AND GOBLINS AND FLORA AND OWEN ESTEL AND ALL THE BREE THINGS!!!!!!"

And, since seeing Captain America: Winter Soldier, my brain added another layer to the cacophonous chorus,

"BUCKBUCKYBUCKYBUCKYOMGPUPPYEYESDOSOMETHINGFORHIMHELP....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

*cough* Ahem. Yeah. That character has smacked me straight in the feels, and tumblr, YOU ARE NOT HELPING. Although it's a perfect diversion during brain fogginess, I must say. (I also may or may not have ordered the Ed Brubaker Captain America: Winter Soldier comics.... okay, yeah, I did. Found Vol 1 & 2 gently used online and they'll be coming in a week or so. I've not read a comic book in years, since I was a kid, really, so I'm looking forward to getting these and wallowing in Winter Soldier feels catching up on the Cap canon that the movies are more or less following.)

And then there's Domino, who has decided that he must sleep ON TOP OF ME every night. Eurgh. I know on paper that sounds so, "Awwww, sweet!!!" But he's heavier than he looks. And he kicks and twitches. So sleep has been a little disrupted. Which contributes to the Brain Fog.

But rest assured, I'm reading everything here at LJ, from comments left on mine to everyone else's posts. I'm not commenting in return much, which kills me, but eventually I'll get caught up with everything and get back to annoying everyone actually conversing with everyone again.

*hugs to all*

Brain Fog of any sort is SO AGGRAVATING. It's just not something you can fight your way out of, and the lethargy that comes with not being able to Brain is so MEH. So I hope that lifts, soon, and you have your energy back! Yays for stay-at-home days. ;D

Heh. Sometimes fandom-related feels can kind of be exhausting, no? I get so emotionally invested in characters, it's ridiculous. I know they're not real, but my FEELS ARE SO REAL. And of course it's impossible to explain to most of the people you know IRL why you're devastated (in a good way) over a superhero movie. XD

(You'll have to tell me how the Winter Soldier comics are! I haven't read any Cap comics - or many comics at all. Mostly, I've resisted because I know I will like them. :P I'd be curious to know whatcha think!)

This, exactly. And thank you!

*sigh* This also, exactly. Only fandom folks understand fandom folks. Thank goodness *someone* does. LOL Only fandom people nod and say, "Yep." when you flail your arms and cry, "ARAGORN YOU COMPLETE ME!!!" or "BUCKY IS RUINING MY LIFE. ;_;" Thank goodness for fandom buddies! *hugs*

I'm glad you're feeling better, albeit foggy. *gentle hugs*

Do any large grocery stores in your area deliver to your door? Maybe you could take advantage of things like that until you fully recover.

No, unfortunately where we live, what we gain in peace and nature and quiet, we lose in city conveniences like grocery delivery. We don't even have pizza delivery here (though I do think the pharmacy delivers to shut-ins, and there's Meals-on-Wheels for the elderly). Fortunately, by the next time I have to get Dad's groceries, I'll be another week farther down the road to recovery and it won't seem so tiring.

*hugs*

Enjoy your stay at home day. Spend time thinking about the stories you can write when you feel up to it!

As for Domino - a dog 'blanket' is just too hot, too!

Yeah, it's pretty much a COMPLETELY different fandom. I have a story idea pounding at my poor brain but whether it will ever make it to paper, who knows. This character is just very, very... sympathetic, I suppose one might say. There are legions of fangirls swooning over him on tumblr, which isn't helping me keep my focus on LOTR. LOL I don't know if I can handle writing in two fandoms, but I may have to try.

I was very well behaved yesterday and as a result, today I have far less brain fog (it also helped that Domino didn't sleep on my lap all night like usual).

... what about all that Aragorn h/c?

Just that there doesn't seem to be much new lately... I don't want to be that person that wistfully longs for the "good ol' days of fandom" but there was a LOT more of it back when I first stumbled across LOTR fic.

I did mean the question in a teasing 'get-writing!' manner, but you're right, there's precious little happening.

If my muse ever makes her way back from hiding, there is a better than even chance of Aragorn fic happening, but she'll need to come back first...

Between doing member registration for the allotment, being one of the organisers for the Dutch Tolkien society meet-up in about a month, and work being extremely busy, I can't quite get the brain into (thinking-about-)writing mode even when I have the time in theory. I can manage to nudge existing stories/chapters forward by about a hundred words a week, but can't find the inspiration for anything new. [/whinge]

LOL! I like the way your brain works when it comes to Aragorn. *g* Hope the fog disperses soon.

You did so much during the weekend that it's no wonder grocery shopping tired you more than usual. I'm sure though that pretty soon your stamina will back to the old levels.

Here's to you having a blast reading the comics, and to Domino finding another more comfortable bed.

*HUGS* Man, I get so aggravated with my own brain fog some days, and usually I don't even have a decent reason for it. I can well imagine how frustrating it must be to be lacking in both the mental and physical wherewithal to do the things you'd like to, at this point in your recovery.

Hehe, and it doesn't really help when your brain's got all this FANNISH EXCITEMENT without the ability to direct it in a coherent fashion, does it? I do hope you're able to have some real fun with those feels sometime soon. XD (And can I just say again how utterly thrilled I am that you've been sucked into the vortex of "BUCKYPUPPYPOORBABY!!!" along with us? My brain basically Will. Not. let that refrain go of late.)

*hugs* again - and lots of prayers for swift recovery <3

(And can I just say again how utterly thrilled I am that you've been sucked into the vortex of "BUCKYPUPPYPOORBABY!!!" along with us? My brain basically Will. Not. let that refrain go of late.)

Hee hee... that refrain is terrible for its tenacity, isn't it??? Good heavens. That character and Sebastian Stan were barely blips on my radar after the first Cap movie but now. o.O Yikes. I don't know if I'll ever actually write fic, despite this idea in my head, but who knows. I might, just to get rid of it!

Date: 2014-05-22 08:20 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] imbecamiel.livejournal.com
Very, very tenacious. *bg* I'll soon be finishing my third Bucky-focused story since the movie came out. I just... gah. XD

And heyyyy, if you do have fic ideas that you don't feel up to writing, you're always free to drop by Avengersgen and post them as prompts if you'd like. (Current round's here: http://avengersgen.livejournal.com/3373.html) You don't need to be a member or writing anything yourself to post as many prompts as you'd like, and we've been getting quite a few fills. (Of course, if you were to write a Bucky fic that would pretty much delight be beyond reason, but. *g*)

I may do that eventually, if I can't get around to writing it myself. :)

I think I joined that comm... just haven't remembered to go back and actually keep up with the comments. *facepalm* I tend to be a heavy friends' page reader when it comes to keeping up with LJ and duh, the posts at your comm won't appear on my friends page just because new comments are added. *sigh*

I might, if you wouldn't mind, PM you with my idea, just to see if it's already been done a billion times. I haven't read much in the Avengers' verse... just yours and some of Suzll's and a scattered few on AO3... so I don't really know what's already out there. I do know that it seems like 98% is slash shipping stuff, which doesn't really do it for my platonic-buddy-fic lovin' heart. *sigh*

And hmmm, I realize that I need to make myself a nice Bucky icon....

Date: 2014-05-23 09:50 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] imbecamiel.livejournal.com
Oh, man, I know. I depend so much on seeing things pop up on my friends page too. (For the prompting communities I'm really involved in, I tend to just track the entire post, so that I know what's going on, but that can result in more emails than a lot of people feel like getting. XD)

Yess, absolutely PM me! I'd be happy to brainstorm, give feedback, whatever. As you said, even though a lot of ideas in the fandom have been "done", it's heavily dominated by slashy shipping, soo with a lot of themes the decent gen/friendship-focused pieces are few and far between.

I feel your pain at the dearth of Aragorn fic! It's sad... sad. BTW, have you seen that Nightwing updated To See a World? I don't know if you've read it, because it's chock-full of Legolas angst, but then it does have some AWESOME Aragorn angst---very, very well done... and her Aragorn is so well-characterized.

So glad to hear you're feeling better!

Oh yeah, I remember starting that one, then stopping when I realized it wasn't finished, and putting it away for such a time when she gets it all done. I've been left hanging too much to start incomplete stories! The only incomplete one I've been reading all along is Canafinwe's "A Long and Weary Way" and that's enough cliffhanging for me. LOL (I do know she'll return to it eventually, though... and right now she's been working on a Hell on Wheels fic, and I adore that show and there's barely ANY fic for it, let along fic of the quality that she puts out. Anyway, I digress...) Nightwing's story is definitely on the bookmarked "to read" list. In fact, I'm glad you mentioned it because I realize I hadn't marked it follow at ff.net, so now I won't lose it again.
