cairistionaI have had a real thing about Celeborn lately. I've always liked him, but there's a chapter in Canafinwe's A Long and Weary Way that just made me melt... what a friend he is to Aragorn!

Date: 2014-01-14 01:43 pm (UTC)I appreciate Celeborn too, especially after making him a major character in "Mind to Mind" and needing to really think about him for the first time. There's so much of his story and character that the Professor left for us to imagine and expand on.

I hadn't read the books before seeing the films, though I still really felt drawn to him, even as small a part as it was. Then when I read the books, I *really* liked him.

Date: 2014-01-14 07:38 pm (UTC)I actually have thought about that... that it must be a special Elf-lord indeed to have caught her heart. And compassionate indeed to stay behind to watch over their kin just a little longer. (Which is why I heartily dislike those tales that make it out that she left because their love had grown cold or their marriage was only of convenience/political expediency/etc... those seem to completely negate the idea that sometimes love requires sacrifice. And it wasn't an eternal sacrifice, after all--he knew he'd see her again when the time was right.)
