But I am glad that you included the first picture the landscape and the ruins of the watch tower on Hollins Ridge are just magnificent. As is Aragorn of course so thank you for a "Twosday" on a Saturday. *winks*
Are you sure about Hollins Ridge? I always thought this is supposed to be the ruins of Ost-in-Edhil, despite a too-small-size and a wrong placement in landscape (liberty of film-making), but thought Hollins Ridge not to be settled with architecture like this...
Ost-in-Edhil is discribed in "Unfinished Tales" as the great City of the Elves. The location given there doesn't see to look like it can house a great City to be honest. However both are Hollin Ridge which is a range of lower mountains leading up to Moria and Ost-in-Edhil as well as Hollin Ridge are described as close to the Sirannon. Therefore they can't be too far from each other. I always thought that Ost-in-Edhil was possibly in one of the valleys of Hollin Ridge.
ahhh thanks to Flattermann I know now the name of the place.
I always thought it was a town that got wasted during the war with Sauron (before the Last Alliance). Probably is even then something decimated back then, or just as easily done to dust by the wars between the 3 Kings houses in the Northern Edain. *sighs* Silly boys.
I just watched Fellowship again last night on TNT. I mean, I could quote dialogue and such, but it was a nice, comforting watch. LOL
While watching the 'big' pictures with the sweeping shots I always tried to figure out where he was - I think he was mostly backing up. Sometimes he swept places with Boromir and with both being tiny and similar built it is hard to tell. So even the fifth and sixth time watching (or more :)) keeps interesting!
Gosh, thanks Flair.. it's all jolly interesting. I'm lost when it comes to the Canon of Lotr. And actually, I just want to drool over Aragorn.. and Boromir whenever he pops up.
Speaking of popping up... I saw a preview of a movie Sean Bean will be in, some sort of sci-fi thing that I can't recall the name of. But as soon as we saw him, I asked hubby if he thought Sean would survive the film. He immediately said, "No." LOL I do hope he lives through that one...
LOL back..teehee. He'll be in the Guinness Book of Records shortly... someone else HAS died more than him, but he's got lots of working on it time! I saw the trailer and it looks strange.. Bean with a southern accent? was that the one, or Legends which I really don't think.. WIld something.. I can't keep count of the films he's made this year. I just wait to see them and drool on the Big screen in my little cinema with red plush seats so comfy!
I think he's got three certain deaths, and maybe lots in the legends when he has lots of 'lives'. oh golly. teehee.
Actually, according to this site: http://www.compleatseanbean.com/deathbycow.html, he's died on-screen at least 20 times! And there's probably been some since--I know at least one, Ned Stark in Game of Thrones"--but that website is inactive since 2009, sadly.
Poor man just can't catch a break. But he apparently catches stabbings, beheadings, hangings, death-by-giant-parabolic-dish, arrow punctures and every other quick-trip-to-Valhalla VERY well.
I can't remember the other chap with the record, but Beany's very very close! it's 23 for Beany and about 29 for the other guy. and After this year..who knows! we must encourage the lad! hahaha.
