Advent, the period leading up to Christmas, starts today! I love Advent calendars and am enjoying the Jacquie Lawson Edwardian Advent calender that [livejournal.com profile] estelcontar1 gave me as a gift this year, and that gave me an idea that I thought might be fun (or annoying, if you're not a fan of Christmas music... if you're not, feel free to skip!)

I'm going to post a video every day of Christmas music. I love Christmas music of all kinds, can't get enough of it, and along with the old standards, I've found some new versions that probably aren't on the endless loop at the local shopping mall.  I hope you enjoy!

Oh, I LOVE this idea!!! Christmas music is my favorite music, and I'm sure I'll be introduced to some new stuff through this :D. Though this one's certainly an old favorite!

Yay! I can't say Christmas music is my favorite, but it's definitely my favorite during Christmas. Which is a really "duh" thing to say but you know what I mean. LOL I have a friend who likes it all so much she listens to it year round. She'll post vids on FB in July with a "Don't judge me!" warning. *g* (Thankfully, she does NOT leave her Christmas lights on all year...)

I'll have a mix of old and new and all kinds of genres so there's bound to be a few new discoveries for you.

What a nice idea! I love Advent calendars myself, and usually the WW and I make ourselves a common one, with everyobdy filling half of the small packets for the other. I'm knitting tiny socks, hats and sacks for this since some years, but there still aren't enough. Sadly, this year we didn't manage (I totally forgot over NaNo *blushes*) so we "just" have a regular box each filled with assorted sweets and chocolates from the eco food store. I've also made some online calendars for friends over the years, but the calendar lovers became less and less, so I eventually gave it up.
Having a Christmas-themed song each day is going to be such a delight! ♥ I love many kinds of Christmas music, others not at all *g*, and am looking forward to your findings! And perhaps I can find some new for you as well.

Have a very peaceful and lovely Advent time, dear! *hugs*

Advent calendars are so fun... and take a lot of planning beforehand. I'm not surprised you didn't get a chance to do yours up as well this year, what with NaNo taking up a lot of time, not to mention brainpower! But I'm sure the chocolates and sweets will be fun each day.

I think it will be a lot of fun. I know I enjoyed digging around finding the videos. :) Hopefully there'll be a good mix of old and new. And yes, do post some of your own! :)

To you as well! *hugs*

oh good grief! Xmas music!

*runs away screaming!*

LOL

Actually, I have a great collection of Gregorian Chant cd's and a handful are Christmas stuff; my favorites are the Daughters of Mary doing traditional Christmas musics and the St. John School out of San Francisco. Xmas Mass etc.

Don't have to be a Christian to appreciate good music.

Just not jingle bells, pleeeeeeease! LOL

Hence putting it under a cut. ;) You don't have to run away screaming; just quietly scroll past.

I've got some like those (probably not the exact same) coming up eventually. I do like a good Gregorian Chant! But no Jingle Bells. I'm not a fan of that one any more--had to sing it too much to my daughter when she was little, I guess. LOL

Nope. I've always thought that music transcends ideology/culture and can actually be a bridge to appreciation and respect between cultures and beliefs, etc. And I could probably say that better but I'm only three sips into my first cuppa coffee this morning... *_o
