More than any of his other parts I've seen, somehow Viggo disappeared and ONLY Aragorn existed.
I'd have to agree. Even as well as he played Nikolai, it didn't quite match the standard he set with Aragorn. If only he'd do another big hero role like this one!
I didn't completely lose Viggo in Nikolai... I was watching him BE Nickolai. And my physical self FELT the bruises and crashings in the fight on those hard tiles. Hells bells. ouch!! and he must have HURT.
But with Aragorn... he is so... mystical, so 'elsewhere in another land' that there's no chance I can even envision him.
Not even knowing he skipped off and Viggo (NOT Aragorn) went fishing between shoots... it still doesn't reverberate somehow.
It is really the oddest thing. Must be going gaga in my old age! (and I lie, I've always felt like that about Aragorn before I even SAW him!)
