Not a bamboo stick, but looking at the pose, he's supporting his right arm with his leg; and the sword shouldn't weigh more than three kilos max (more likely around two), with most of the weight balanced fairly low. Not really comfortable, but not undoable either.
I tried the pose with my Hadhafang replica which weighs 1,2 kilos, and for me at least the uncomfortable part isn't holding the sword steady, but keeping my right knee from screaming in pain.
