I know Aragorn had to be a hard ass to have not only survived all he had but to push his way into the kingship but really, I prefer Viggo's softer Aragorn. Our ranger had a good heart above all things, was willing to sacrifice his own agenda to make things better and a gruff nasty Aragorn just doesn't suit.

Can you tell I've still reading Inzilbeth's book? Love it too by-the-way! :)
I don't think either version of Aragorn was ever gruff and nasty, thank goodness. Confident, tough-minded (if you ignore the silly "turned his back on this destiny" movie nonsense), and diplomatic, plus of course, hard-ass with Sauron and his ilk!
All Hail His Most Gloriously Heroic, Gallant and Gorgeous Epitome of Magnificent Kingliness, Aragorn Elessar Telcontar, The High King of the West and The Crown Jewel Of Arnor and Gondor.
