Aragorn-a-Day request, please!

If any of you read through the comments on today's (Aug 7) Aragorn-a-Day, you'll see that there was an issue with one of the photos inexplicably disappearing.  This is the second time this has happened, where I've posted a photo from my Scrapbook, and to me, viewing it on Firefox, it's visible, but when someone looks at it with Explorer (usually Nath, as she's the quickest off the draw!), they see only the dreaded red "x" box.  Then, as the day goes by, it also disappears from Firefox, and worse, it disappears from my Scrapbook! Both times I've quickly uploaded a copy to Photobucket, so I haven't actually lost any photos (thank goodness for the Photobucket Uploader add-on).  But I fear if I hadn't found out about the problem soon enough, I might have.

From here on out, if I use a Scrapbook photo, I'll go ahead and make a copy of it to my Photobucket account. But because I don't often go back looking at older posts, my request is this: if you ever, on any post with photos, either personal or of Aragorn, Viggo, etc., notice that a photo has gone missing, could you let me know as soon as possible, via comment or private message if you're one of those that follows A-a-Day without commenting? (I'll be sure to allow PMs from anyone--at the moment I'm not sure my account is set up that way.) If I can still view it from the cache, I can upload it to Photobucket. Otherwise I fear it may be gone forever (or, realistically, gone until I can reupload it from my personal photos or find it somewhere via google, which with the way websites disappear, sometimes doesn't work.  Indeed, many of my photos of Aragorn came from sites that are now defunct).

I've put in a support request to LJ about this issue but it's so intermittent, I have little hope they'll fix it. It's a bit maddening, to say the least!

I might have. I have been collecting them since 2002 when FOTR came out, and now I have well over 2000 photos uploaded to photobucket (not counting the icons), though, of course many are repeated.

I use Firefox at work and home and frankly, I only saw one photo; I figured you'd either neglected, forgot or went ooopse and missed one. But i'll keep an eye out. I was thinking of upgrading the browser here at work to IE9 (or whatever silliness it is now) to see if it improves things (doubtful).

Thanks. I figured there were some who wouldn't comment on it or yes, think it was an oversight on my part, so I thought I best make a plea. I did put in a report to LJ and there's someone working on it already so maybe they'll get it fixed. It's just so odd that when I made the post, *I* could see both photos with Firefox, though I was apparently the only one that could.

I really do not like IE, though I don't have the latest version. I've just always found it slow, clunky and less than intuitive. I'm pretty much a diehard Firefox fan.

And I still have that little blue flash drive you sent them on, yes! So that's one back up, of at least your collection. But yes, you're right in that I have a lot of others I've collected from hither and yon through the years. I think I might start transferring all of them from LJ to Photobucket. It'll be time-consuming but worth it, I think. And it will be interesting to see just how many I have... I've never actually counted them up!

I've never noticed photos missing but will tell you if I do. I use Chrome or Firefox.

Thank you! I really don't know what to make of this little glitch but hopefully LJ will get to the bottom of it.
