In the book, Aragorn says that in the palantir Sauron saw him "in other guise than you see me here". I've often wondered what the Professor had in mind.
I've always taken that to mean Sauron saw him in his full kingly, Numenorean strength, perhaps even with the Elendilmir shining on his brow, and not just as the yet-uncrowned Ranger.
