Picture 1: Breeegooo! :D Picture 2: I never realized he actually has this beautiful elven hairstyle when he rides to the Black Gate. You know, why wear a close helmet or whatever when you can show off your fancy hairstyle?
I hadn't thought of it, but I guess he probably is still riding Brego in movie-verse. I tend to think of his horse in this scene as Roheryn like it is in the books!
And ah yes, the pragmatic considerations of movie-making: the lead hero must risk his noggin so that the movie-goers can easily spot him (and his braids) in battle!
I'm pretty sure it is Brego in movie-verse. Or at least Uraeus who played Brego. I watched the documentary about horses in the movie only a few days ago on YouTube but it looks like they've just deleted it due to some copyright issues. Anyway, I don't think Roheryn exists in the movie. Neither do Glorfindel, Elladan and Elrohir, Tom Bombadil and so on. Still, I actually like the idea of Brego saving Aragorn and all... I mean, I know it's just PJ's imagination but I like the idea of a man-and-animal friendship. (Despite the little logical mistake in its the realization. I don't think anyone would set a horse free without removing the halter/bridle from its head. And the bit from its mouth, lol:P)
Oh, yeah, that might be it! And, speaking about horses (again, sorry!), I wonder what happens to Brego or Roheryn (pick the one your consider valid) at the Black Gate where Aragorn first rides him here and there, gives his wonderful speech and all, but when he decides to attack and whispers "for Frodo", he's on his feet and starts running. But where did the horse go?

And no, sadly, there's no Roheryn or Halbarad to bring him from Rivendell on Arwen's behalf in the movie, alas. But Brego made good drama. :)

Éomer was wiser. He didn't mind hiding his blond locks under a helmet. LOL
