After Thor and now the absolute blockbuster The Avengers (which I saw this weekend in all its awesomeness), I looked up the actors to see what they're doing next and was tickled to see that Tom Hiddleston would be doing both Henry IV (with Jeremy Irons!) and Henry V for the BBC.  Heaven knows when we'll see them here in the US (hopefully BBC America will show them sooner rather than later), but here's a sneak peek of Hiddleston doing a bit of an off-the-cuff recitation the iconic speech from Henry V:

*goosebumps*

I'm not a huge fan of Shakespeare but I do dearly love Henry V.

Henry V is definitely one of my own favorites of Shakespeare's plays! I know his is the "popular" version of history, but that play contains so much vigor!

Yes, it's hardly actual history, but history's been treated far more egregiously. *g* I love hearing that speech when it's done with, as you put it so aptly, so much vigor.

Isn't that good? And it's just a sort of off the cuff performance. How good must the actual filmed scene be!

Wow! He did that beautifully. I don't think anything stirs the blood of an Englishman [or woman] quite as magnificently as this speech [especially as it's the French we're about to give a kicking!]

I can't wait to see this.

True, you Brits have so much more invested in that particular battle!

I thought he did an amazing job considering it was smack in the middle of an interview (although probably somewhat planned as the lighting was rather dramatic for just an interview show).

Argh, you've seen it again already! Oh to not have a crammed schedule. *sigh* We'll see it again, but I'm not sure exactly when.

That's wonderful! Henry V wasn't the one that Jonathan Rhys Meyer played in The Tudors, was it?

No, Meyer plays Henry VIII, who was more known for his prodigious, erm, appetites! Henry V was the one, among other things that didn't include 6 wives, that led the small British army to victory over the French at Agincourt.

Ooo, I loved Hiddleston in Thor (and in his ten second role in in War Horse). And I love Jeremy Irons, too. So I may have to see that...

Also, great to know Avengers was good! I really, really want to see that, so I'm glad to have a rec from someone like-minded :D

If you like comic book movies in the slightest, you will *love* Avengers!

I'm going to keep an eye out for when this Henry V shows up here, too. Fingers crossed BBC America doesn't delay!

I finally saw it. It was great! How did I miss this post? I have to see this. It must come out on DVD.

I don't know how you missed it, but you've made up for it now and that's all that matters.

And yes, this *must* be made available to all of us outside of the BBC coverage area! I'm sure it will be... too many big stars in it for it to not be released worldwide.
