Funny that you should have this picture today. I was pulling my hair trying to help my son answer questions for his English homework. The class is reading The Fellowship of the Rings and they are now reading the part where the hobbits are in Bree and they meet Strider.

OMG! Why is my son getting a D in his class? This is the little boy who got me into LOTR? He has a Geek mom like me to help him and yet he thinks he knows all! So I sat him down against his will and made him think about the questions and his answers... 2 Hours later and 50 new gray hairs that sprouted...his answers were pretty decent (but of course...I could have done better!)

I've always tried to figure out why his hair looks different in these scenes. Maybe it's wet.

Weren't these among the first scenes he filmed? It was probably a wig whereas later in the filming he had grown his own hair out more.
