The following squee-filled thank you is rather belated, because of a too-busy week, but many, many, MANY thanks to
rs9 for creating such beautiful artwork to go along with my story, "By Such a Foolish Name"! To say my jaw dropped is waaaaay understating my reaction! And as I'm continuing on with the tale, I've revisited all these SEVERAL times, for inspiration. And even if I wasn't continuing on with the tale, I'd be revisiting these SEVERAL times just because... because... *flails*.... they're just so doggone good. You have rockin' mad skills, my friend... may your wrist never cramp, your fingers stay nimble, and your creative flair never wane!
So, using the handy little "share" button on her original post, something I've never tried before, here's her post in it's entirety for you to enjoy! (Sorry it's not under a cut; when I tried to do that, it messed it up so that when you clicked on the cut link, it actually took you to her LJ, not a bad thing but I think the idea behind sharing the post is to have it on your own LJ for comments... either I'm doing it wrong or there's a glitch in their code).

Inspired by a ficlet by cairistiona. A wonderful and vivid story that inspired these scenes in my little ol' imaginative head!
A Glimpse of "By Such a Foolish Name":
"The door swung open and the hum of voices lowered..."The man, tall, hooded, with a sword in a battered scabbard hanging at his side, slammed the door shut".
"The man nodded his thanks, picked up his drink and wove his way through the tables until he reached the fireplace...He sighed with a deep fatigue of a man who finally takes the weight off aching feet....Bowen was again struck by how tired the man looked.

".....who's the fellow just come in, by the fire?" "That there's a Ranger, name of....."

He shut his eyes and leaned his head against the back of the bench.

"For the first time since he entered the inn, a genuine smile stretched slowly across the man's face. Bowen was amazed at the transformation; Strider seemed almost handsome".

Date: 2011-08-18 01:57 pm (UTC)And happy I am to do it! *g* I know there are more folks on my flist than yours who might not otherwise see these lovely drawings, and heaven knows when I'll get around to actually posting them with the story at NaN or somewhere like MPTT, so I wanted to make sure you got your due at least amongst my own little corner of LJ. :)
I think we're developing a very nice symbiotic relationship! *g*
