Ask meme for people in their 30s... or as I would say, people who are 30 and up, because there's really not a lot of change in life w/r/t this particular set of questions.
1 What was the first piece of furniture you bought?
Hmm, probably one of those swing rocker/footstool combos. Still have it, actually.
2 What proportion of your meals do you cook?
Maybe 80%?
3 Foaming hand soap or normal hand soap?
Foaming, particularly Bath and Body Works brand because it smells wonderful and doesn't cause my eczema to flare up.
4 Favorite chore?
I guess CleanTok has made everyone think they have to love cleaning, but I hate it and don't have a favorite. I just do them all as quickly and as seldom as I can get away with. XD
5 Least favorite chore?
All of them, but particularly: scrubbing grout.
6 Most precious thing one of your pets has destroyed?
Honestly, nothing. I've lost a few socks over the years, and one dog chewed a corner of a throw rug, but it was hardly a precious thing. I've been really careful about keeping things I can't stand to lose well out of reach of pets.
7 Any groceries you've been getting into lately?
This time of year, fresh produce.
8 What cleaning product do you swear by?
My homemade shower spray that keeps me from having to scour the shower. 1/2 c hydrogen peroxide, 1/2 c. 70% or 90% alcohol, 1 T. dishwasher rinse aid, 1 t. Dawn and 3 cups of water in a spray bottle. Spray down the shower after each use, keeps it shiny and sanitized.
9 What's your emotional support craft?
I don't really do crafts. I've tried various kinds, but couldn't get past the expense of supplies and the question of "okay, now what to do with the clutter of all the things you made that no one really wants?"
10 Youtube, cable TV, or streaming?
We have satellite instead of cable, but a combo of satellite and streaming.
11 What's something you saved up for and then regretted buying?
Oh, plenty of things big and small through the years. Most of the big stuff I don't regret, but there's been some clothing and shoes I bought that I regret spending the money on.
12 How many cups can you see from where you're sitting?
One, my morning coffee cup.
13 Which filter are you most likely to go "eh, it's probably fine" when you find out you need to change it?
The one in the vent over the stovetop.
14 How often do you take baths?
Rarely. I'm a shower person.
15 Do you go down each aisle when you grocery shop, or only the ones you know you need stuff from?
Only the aisle I need things from.
16 Where do you go when you need to get out of the house but it's raining?
I rarely have such a need to get out of the house that I'll venture forth in bad weather. :P
17 What's a movie you saw recently that you liked?
Thelma, just this past weekend. Sweet comedy/drama about growing old. Richard Rountree was in it, and it was his last role. *sob*
18 Pro or anti tchotchkes?
Pro within reason. I think little decorative things or cute things can bring a smile, but I don't want too much clutter.
19 What's your go-to tape?
I don't usually have to tape things except at Christmas, so I guess plain of' Scotch tape. (Unless this list of questions was made up by a Gen Xer who still listens to cassette tapes??)
20 What's in your freezer right now?
Ha ha... ha ha ha... lordy, too many things to list. Mostly frozen veg, some desserts, and meals I made that I froze for quick meals in the future.
21 Last concert you attended?
It's been ages, but I think Home Free, an a capella group. It was amazing.
22 Favorite grocery store?
Hy-Vee, but it's expensive, so my go-to's are Aldi and Walmart Neighborhood Market, with occasional stops at Target.
23 Paper bags, plastic bags, or reusable bags?
All of the above. I use plastic bags that I reuse for Aldi, plus I have a stash that I use for cleaning out the cat litter box. I have some paper bags for... whatever I happen to need them for.
24 Do you get your government mandated 8 hours every night?
I didn't realize there was a governmental sleep police, but I get about 6-7 hours, which is actually okay for my age.
25 Favorite old person activity?
Anything I'm still able to do. (Jeez, ageist question much??)
26 Would you rather sit on the porch drinking sweet tea or sit by the lake drinking beers?
Porch with sweet tea.
27 Do you prefer Boardgame Night, Build-Your-Own-Pizza Night, or Movie Night with your friends?
Movie night with my family.
28 Be honest, do you like all of the pictures of their babies that your friends send you?
Yes, though sometimes with new moms it can get a little much. But hey, been there, understand that.
29 Go-to holiday card format?
I don't send cards anymore, but I enjoy getting any that anyone sends me.
30 How many pairs of scissors do you own?
About four general duty ones for paper or opening packages, a pair for cooking, a huge pair out in the garage for whatever hubby uses them for, and hair-cutting ones for the animals and another for humans.
31 Do you still own your first car?
Good heavens, no. Not even in my 20s did I keep my first car, which was an old 1976 Chevy Luv pickup that was wheezing when I bought it as an 18 year old. XD
32 How do you take your morning coffee/tea?
With 1/2 & 1/2, usually, though sometimes I'll add some agave syrup, and sometime, more rarely, I'll use a flavored non-dairy creamer.
33 What's something you collect?
I have a nice little collection of white ceramic birds, quite a few Captain America/Marvel things, and LOTR things. But I'm not really actively collecting anymore. Trying to downsize.
34 What's your commute like?
Bedroom to the kitchen to the family room, with occasional forays outside.
35 Aisle at the grocery store you never bother walking down?
Baby items.
36 Do you keep a daily journal or agenda?
Nope.
37 Do you still listen to the same music you listened to in high school?
I listened to music from the 40s-70s in high school because I didn't really like 80s music much, so technically yes.
38 What's the last filter you changed?
I ran the stove vent filter through the dishwasher.
39 What little treat do you always get when you run errands?
None, usually, but sometimes i'll get a bottled Starbucks vanilla coffee.
40 Grocery list or no grocery list?
List.
41 What's the oldest thing you own?
Not counting fossils that are bazillions of years old, either a pie safe from the 1890s that my great grandpa built, or a primitive chest of drawers that my MiL picked up that we never could determine the age of but was likely a "prairie" piece made by settlers back in the 1800s sometime.
42 What's an unjustifiably expensive appliance that you really want?
A robot vacuum cleaner. Or a nice tractor with a front-end loader. LOL
43 Favorite book you've read recently?
Maybe I'll Pitch Forever, by Satchel Paige.
44 Honest feelings on Settlers of Catan?
I enjoy playing it, but no one else in the family does, so we gave it away. *cries*
45 What's something you wish you had more time for?
Travel.
46 What kind of stuff do you keep on the door of your refrigerator?
I have a stainless steel fridge, so nothing on the front, but I have a row of Marvel comic book cover magnets and four astronomy magnets from Croatia given me by
ellynn_ithilwen on the side,
47 Lamps or overhead lighting?
Both
48 If you could build your home from scratch, what outrageous feature would you want to build into it?
I don't know how outrageous, but a bigger master bedroom bathroom and a bigger walk-in closet.
49 Do you bring a bag with you everywhere you go?
Usually
50 Pro or anti throw pillows?
Kind of anti? I don't want a lot of them, but I keep a couple on the couch.
51 How many blankets do you keep in your living room?
Three, mostly used by Boom.
52 Did your relationship with your parents get better when you stopped living with them?
Definitely.
53 What's worse, the DMV or the Social Security Office?
Our DMV is actually really well-organized and friendly. The SS office, not so much.
54 Do you decorate your house for holidays? Which ones?
Yes, for Christmas. Otherwise, I have seasonal wreaths that I hang on the door, for each season.
55 Favorite high-effort meal that you make?
Thanksgiving, probably. Otherwise, pork fried rice. I make it with frozen already-cooked pork, but I do have to cook the pork roast to get that part ready. Plus making the rice and prepping the veg takes a while.
56 Favorite low-effort meal that you make?
Frozen Welsh bangers-and-mash pasties from our local British food truck. Just toss them in the oven for 40 minutes at 350. Easy peasy.
57 Do you tend to bring an appetizer, entree, dessert, or drinks to a potluck?
Usually a big salad.
58 What kind of bag do you use for your bag full of bags?
Another plastic bag.
59 If you died and your ghost was stuck in the outfit you're wearing right now for the rest of time, would you be happy with it?
Cargo shorts and a tee, sure.
60 Do you have an opinion on your local weather reporter?
I have my favorites, but not enough that I form opinions about them.
61 Do you have a favorite brunch spot?
Nope. I've only had brunch maybe once or twice in my life.
62 Where are you on the minimalism-maximalism kinsey scale?
Had to look that up, but yeah, I'm a 0, completely hetero. Or if this is the meme-writer trying to be profound or maybe using that scale for aesthetics is a thing? about minimalism vs maximalism, I'm 50/50. I find the bareness of the truly minimalistic aesthetic to be a little too stark and soulless, but too much clutter makes me twitch.
63 Opinion on Bath and Body Works?
My go-to for soap and shower wash stuff. I also like their candles.
64 Last time you visited a farmer's market?
Couple years ago, probably. Ours only takes cash, and I rarely have any cash on me and the nearest ATM is about 20 miles away in the city, so... yeah, I don't go very often.
65 Anything you're procrastinating on right now?
Not really procrastinating because hubby is on vacation this week, but the photo scanning project is on hold. Also procrastinating finishing weeding my pollinator beds. LOL
66 Do you get your taxes in as soon as possible, at the last minute, or late?
ASAP.
67 Do you keep any stuffed animals on your bed?
No, unless you count my cat Pip when she comes to sleep with me every night. XD
68 Are your garbage bags scented or unscented?
Scented.
69 What are you looking forward to next week?
Hubby will be back to work, so maybe just some time to myself and getting back to normal routine.
