A Tolkien-baseball funny
Jul. 4th, 2019 10:21 amWe celebrated July 4th by going to our local minor league baseball team's game, where firework were to follow* (I have decided fireworks on the 3rd make far more sense, especially considering most of the time, people have to get up early on the 5th to go back to work). The game was a good one, a tied score until the last inning. Right before the bottom of the 9th, which would be the last chance, barring extra innings which no one wanted because we were ready for fireworks, they played a montage of inspiration movie speech snippets, including Aragorn's speech at the Black Gates. *g*
And yes, they won, because it was NOT the day when men's hearts failed. *g*
*The fireworks were nearly a lost cause--there was a 2 hour rain delay, so the game didn't end until 11:45 and apparently there's a curfew even for municipal fireworks displays. Had the game run it's normal course and fireworks started at 9:30 as planned, they would have let the fans onto the field where you could lay in the outfield grass and enjoy a very up-close view. But as there was only 15 minutes before the curfew, barely 10 seconds had passed after the winning run crossed the plate when the announcer said, "Okay, we don't have time to let you onto the field!" and boom, lights out and the fire in the sky began. XD
Happy 4th, everyone!
