More music!
Sep. 29th, 2014 08:27 amI'm in the mood for music, so... hopefully you won't mind my sharing some of my finds as I surf youtube.
I promise they won't *all* be related to Kevin Costner, but today's and tomorrow's will be, at least tangentially. Today's song is sung by Lily Costner, his daughter, and is on the same Hatfield and McCoys soundtrack. Oh Mallie-Mae, which I could have sworn was an old Appalachian folk song, was written by Kevin Costner. Amazing how well his writing and her voice capture the ache and simplicity of that genre of folk music.
Without further ado, Lily Costner....
And bonus! A second song I found via the one tweet she's sent out, a Martin Guitar session with Matthew Perryman Jones back in 2013. Disclaimer: I'm very partial to Martin's and that's another reason I clicked on the video link. But it's a solid song and it's interesting to hear the songwriter talk about how it ended up being written:
Lily inherited both his eyes and his musical skills (plus some), from the looks of it. She's listed at IMDB as an actress but I kinda hope she pursues music. I wouldn't mind having an album of stuff like this from her. Or him, for that matter... I like his voice. :)
