LJ's at it again...
Dec. 22nd, 2011 03:49 pmLJ has "improved" things, if you've noticed. The comment form is now... really, really annoying, in my humble opinion. Yes, I do like the idea of using a button to insert a picture or video, but egads, choosing a userpic is crazy frustrating now, because instead of a tidy little alphabetical text list, it brings up a box with ALL your userpics, in the order you uploaded them (instead of alphabetical by title), and in photo form. Pretty, yes, but for slow internet connections is just... argh. And there's no longer a preview feature on comments, which I actually do use when I have to leave a long and involved comment. And when you go to read comments, you lose your pretty stuff that you customized your LJ with. My lovely big Aragorn userhead disappeared and all I get is a bland, generic page. It does that when I type up a post, but I don't mind that too much as I'm concentrating on typing, but when I'm reading comments, dang it, I WANT ARAGORN LOOKING OUT FROM ATOP MY JOURNAL!! That's why I PUT him there, dang it again!!!!!
Ahem.
Fortunately, there's a fix. You can go to your "Customize Journal Style" page, found under "Journal Style". Click on "Customize Theme" over in the upper right in the "Current Theme" box. Then go about halfway down the page to "Basic Options" and change "Disable Customized Comment Pages" to "No" (this "upgrade" defaulted everyone's to "yes"). And voila, the old comment form is back (hopefully for all journal styles). Of course, you lose the press-a-button pic insert feature but most of us have had to learn the HTML to do that anyway. More importantly at least for me, you also get the "preview" option back.
