Day 11
In your own space, talk about a creator. Show us why you think they are amazing. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I'm going to use this to give a shout out to a very under-praised group of people: beta readers! I know that I certainly wouldn't be the creator I am if not for good beta readers. I've been very lucky all throughout my time in fandom (some 20 years now, across 3-4 different fandoms) to have some really great ones that don't let me get away with any slipshod writing or OOC moments. I've had wonderful help in the past from people who've moved on from fandom, but my current betas I call (in my head) my Betas Three (you know, like Thor's Warriors Three?), are all a writer could ever want and more. Nefhiriel, Imbecamiel, and Nath each bring a specific skill set when they read over my chapters. From all three I get cheer-leading and flails, hardcore sentence structure/grammar/punctuation corrections, and very specific feedback on what's confusing or not working. They don't pull punches and I wouldn't have it any other way. They're all so good that each time I write a chapter, I do it with an eye toward "This time they won't find ANYTHING to correct!!!!"... aaaand then it comes back with corrections. XD But that's how it's supposed to work.
Thank you, my Betas Three! You are creators in your own right who take the time to help me create, and I appreciate that immensely.
