I read just now that Merle Haggard has passed away. My parents absolutely loved his music and my childhood soundtrack included every one of his songs. The song below isn't one of his more famous hits like Okie From Muskogee or Working Man's Blues, but I can still hear my dad's voice singing along to Roses in the Winter....

Today was his birthday, and his son said on his FB page that Merle had told him a week ago that he would pass on his birthday. I guess somehow he knew.

RIP and thank you for all the music, Mr. Haggard.

As a friend elsewhere said, "Of course it's raining -- even God's crying."

He was someone who KNEW... he sang real songs about real people and real feelings. I took him almost everywhere in the bad times, just making me feel not alone! Bless him.

I've never heard of him, but I can imagine how you feel - so would I if the same happened to the other singer who's on my childhood soundtrack... *hugs*
