cairistionaI was brain dead last Friday after working on the beta project (which is going well) and on the HASA project (also going well) and needed to do something to clear my head of All The Words.
I've been thinking for a while about doing a tumblr post about how cool it would be if Marvel released a special edition Blu-ray/DVD of Captain America: The First Avenger as a black-and-white movie, but, in reverse-The Wizard of Oz fashion, go full color with the last scenes when he wakes up in the modern era. So I grabbed some photos from the Marvel website and de-colorized them and put together a post here.
And it... kinda exploded.
Apparently... the fandom agrees? In less than 4 days it's gotten over 30K hits. It was getting 1K hits an hour for a while last night. o.O
I... kinda doubt I'll ever have another day like that on tumblr.
It's been amusing to read some of the comments people have added when they reblog. Lot of folks trying to get Mark Ruffalo to see it, which is flattering and simultaneously terrifying (I live in a bubble where I imagine NO ONE FROM CELEBRITY-LAND EVER SEES MY INTERNETZY STUFF THANK YOU). A lot of people informed me that I f*cked them up, which... is actually a compliment on tumblr. And two people thought it was a crap idea (*not* a compliment). And one commented, and I paraphrase, "didn't the nigs already kinda do this sh*t with the sepia sh*t until the nigga busted outta Shield?" Which... was interesting if only because that's the first time I've heard Cap referred to as a nigga. Kids these days.
But this one wins the Internet:
