cairistionaBeen a while since I posted any music. Ugh, if only I had more time for everything! But I ran across the song below by Kevin Costner & Modern West that he made for the Hatfields & McCoys mini-series (which I've yet to see, but it's on the list).
Now, I'll be honest--I adore Kevin Costner for so many reasons, but the first time I ever heard him sing, I... was less than impressed. I posted about it, way back, and I remember that, though I thought he had promise, mostly I just cringed and lumped him in the category of "actors who want to do All The Arty Things but really should stick to acting" and never bothered listening to anything from him since.
But today I ran across this via someone on tumblr who, like me is a Hell on Wheels fan and included it on a 8tracks fanmix called Revelator. (It's a small but excellent mix... goes so well with Cullen Bohannon's character. And even if you've never seen HoW and could care less about Cullen, it's still a good indie country/folk mix.)
I love the quiet sorrow he imbues into nearly every note. If this is the stuff he's doing these days, I take back all the bad things I said about his musical career.
