Cap & Bucky....

... are now living on my computer desk.

Hopefully Bucky will behave himself and not attack Cap. Aragorn's keeping a wary eye on him...

... so Cap is very safe.

And in other news...

Can we take a moment to appreciate the wondrous things that are Chris Evans' eyelashes in his Gucci Guilty ad...

The cologne (at least the women's version; haven't sniffed Guilty Pour Homme) is wonderful. My daughter and I have been going into our local Sephora since at least Christmas to get a spritz from their try-me bottle, and finally hubby gave me a bottle for Mother's Day (which I have to hide in my sock drawer so dearest daughter won't use it all up in a week).

But alas, it doesn't make my eyelashes look like that. *sigh*

The struggle is real.

OOh what a super post. LOVE the dolls. and Aragorn - he's just damned gorgeous sitting there. Yummm.

I've noticed, men have much much thicker eyelashes than women. I wonder if it's an evolution thing. A sort of defence line or something - in case Orc blood squirts?

You like the pong eh? I'm searching for something 'interesting'.. and SEXY!!!!

[identity profile] cairistiona7.livejournal.com 2014-06-06 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Aren't those the cutest things? That company makes them for almost all "geeky" movies, including The Hobbit (I think Flair may be buying some or already has?). And Aragorn, gah... I still get the weak-kneed willies when I look at that little figure. :)

That is as good an explanation as any about men's thick eyelashes. Maybe it's also consolation for their unfortunate tendency to go bald??

And yes, I do like the pong! (I had to sit and look at that sentence with my head cocked a little for a moment, trying to remember what "pong" meant. LOL) It's a rather sophisticated scent, a little like Chanel #5, which I love. More on the sweet side than spicy, but not *too* cloying. It makes me think of expensive, glamorous boutiques when I smell it--though fortunately it's a little less pricey than #5 or I wouldn't have a bottle stashed in my sock drawer. :D

[identity profile] bluegerl.livejournal.com 2014-06-06 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
OOh goody about the Pong!!! Sounds just what I'm looking for! I too love Chanel No.5 so ... shall look out and have a try - my skin is inclined to turn scents into catpee perfumes!

I think I'd go all weak-kneed to have a Ranger sitting beside me. Thos I confess I have a turble urge for one. Oh why not. lash out and find me a Hero person to say good morning every day to!

Where do I get him???

I have the same problem with certain perfumes turning yuck when they mix with my own personal blend of biochemicals. :P I have to try a sample at the store first, always.

The Strider figure is from Weta Workshop. A little pricey, but it was *just* in my budget for "fun but frivolous" purchases when I bought it, and I've never regretted spending the jingle on it:

*g* Fangirling is awesome, isn't it? ;o) ♥

[identity profile] cairistiona7.livejournal.com 2014-06-06 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
It is, it is!! I will never outgrow it (and I had a good example in my mother who to her last days still fangirled over Gregory Peck!)

I admit that I am completely obsessed with Chris Evans at the moment--he's good looking, of course, but he also seems to be a truly nice fellow in "real life", very self-effacing and funny and humble with a "good head on his shoulders" as we say here, meaning he's well grounded and kind. Not that I like all his films (like Viggo, he's had to take his share of clunkers), but his take on Captain America just makes my heart flutter. And a little less taken with Sebastian Stan, who plays the Winter Soldier, than I am with the character of the Winter Soldier and all the tragedy that goes with it (redemption arc, he has it, in spades). But Seb Stan is a real cutie, too. He's just not as old nor, understandably, seems as mature as Chris Evans. But he also seems like a nice guy, and boy, can he do a lot of acting with only his eyes.

Anyway, don't get me started or I'll never stop! I try to keep my Cap fandom squeeing to a minimum here at LJ (at tumblr... not so much), but I did think these two little guys were worth a post just because they're so doggone cute. :)

I am having so many grins over your fanning on Cap and Bucky. There's a group at Ravelry that has one entire thread of nothing but Avengers, and now Cap and Bucky are playing as well. Who says we can't fangirl? *grins*

Not into commercial perfumes, so I'll take your word for it. But it's wonderful that Hubs bought it for you. That's love, right there!

[identity profile] cairistiona7.livejournal.com 2014-06-06 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Good for your Ravelry Avengers thread! *g* I'm the world's worst for giving into fangirling, but I love it--it's a stress reliever, among other things. And with my childhood love of comic book heroes, these Avengers movies really fell on fertile soil. :)

I have the hardest time telling him gift ideas, but that perfume was a relative no-brainer. And then I was thrilled when I saw that they'd chosen Chris Evans as the "face" of that perfume line. I had the same sort of fortuitous thing happen with a perfume called "Cool Waters" that I fell in love with and later discovered Josh Holloway (another fave actor of mine) was the model... it's funny how I like the perfume first and then get to simply enjoy the marketing after. Probably not exactly the result marketers plan for. LOL

It makes me squee to see you squeeing over Chris Evans/Cap, and Bucky. It really does. :DD

I've noticed the impossible eyelashes level of maturity he has, too. If you watch him in interviews he's always so composed and dignified (but also laughs easily/isn't stuck up, by any means), which is always awesome to see. Because you do want the actors for your favorite characters to at least possess something of their integrity.

If you want some real cuteness, find some of the interviews where Chris Evans is all hero-worshiping of Robert Downey Jr. - because apparently, at least at first, Chris Evans was pretty shy about all the sudden media attention after Avengers. And R D Jr.? NOT SO MUCH. So apparently he was a bit of mentor in that regard for Chris Evans. XD

Also, Chris Evans has brought his mother with him as his "date" to big gala type evens. *DIES OF THE CUTENESS*

/babbling

ETA: I know I'm being redundant, but really, it's so awesome that you love Cap because even post CA2 - with all the attention it's gotten - I still feel like Cap himself doesn't get nearly enough love. And he's so lovable and good, and deserves as many fans as any of the other Avengers - or Loki, or Bucky (wonderful though their redeemed/unredeemed villain story arcs are :D). So...yeah - YAYS. Cap is hands down my biggest reason for loving the fandom. <3

Yep, I really adore Cap for All The Reasons. :) He's very heroic in the mold of Aragorn, I think, so that endears him to me *greatly*. He's a natural leader because of his integrity--people trust him instinctively and implicitly and have good reason to. I like that in a hero. I know that everyone these days is all about the anti-heroes or the misunderstood bad guy (which, in Bucky's case, yeah, I'm right there, but he's not *really* a bad guy... he's been forced into that mold completely against his will, yikes), but I've always needed heroes to be heroes and so discovering Cap was like a breath of fresh air. And as good as the first Cap movie was, I wish it had had the same super-high quality as the second, because I didn't immediately latch onto Cap after the first film, and now I think of all that squeeing I could have been doing... *sigh*

Because you do want the actors for your favorite characters to at least possess something of their integrity.

So true! And he's said recently that he wants to be the kind of man Steve Rogers is, so... yeah. A good man, our Chris! *whew* It'd be hard if the guy playing Cap was a brilliant actor but a lousy human being.

I'm going to have to track down those early interviews. (I feel a little like Cap... gotta make notes of what to look up on the Internet!)

[identity profile] nefhiriel.livejournal.com 2014-06-06 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
" He's very heroic in the mold of Aragorn, I think, so that endears him to me *greatly*. He's a natural leader because of his integrity--people trust him instinctively and implicitly and have good reason to."

EXACTLY. I can totally get why Loki (who is more a true villain than Bucky) is lovable in his own way, and why Bucky (who was made into a villain) is TOTALLY lovable. But there are so few heroes who are truly good in the way that Aragorn and Cap are - the kind that you actually would like to meet IRL, because they'd be wonderful, wonderful people.

I really was a fan of Cap's from movie one, mostly because I fell so completely in love with scrawny!Steve and Bucky in the first half. So to have their friendship be adored on a large scale by so many people is awesome (I have been scraping the bottom of the FIc Barrel looking for good Steve and Bucky fic, and finally there is Stuff Happening). But there still needs to be so much more fic that focuses on Steve's side of the hurt instead of just Bucky's (extensive though that agnst was), because Steve's had plenty of his own, poor BB. *pats* (I'm not even going to mention the feelings I have for the scene between Peggy and Steve. NOT A WORD. *bawls*)

I wish I could remember where I read/watched those interviews. But this one is funny, and you get a flavor for his Tony Stark confidence, and this more recent article had some funny stuff in it too about what a fan he is of Chris Evans. Really, they're both hysterically like their characters... The fact that Downey threw a CA2 party tickles me to death. :D

(BTW, I have to ask...Cami mentioned something about you writing fic for CA2? TELL ME THIS IS TRUE. ;D)

[identity profile] cairistiona7.livejournal.com 2014-06-06 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooooh, thanks for those links! I will save them for a rainy day, which, come to think of it, is today. *g*

And yep, I am indeed dipping my writing pen in the ink of Cap & Bucky fic. Sorta. It's an outsider POV fic about Bucky, based on the comic book, where Hydralyzed Bucky goes AWOL after a mission on American soil in 1973. So no Cap, alas, but some lost & confused Bucky on his own in the wilds of a Chicago bus station. Cami did an excellent job beta'ing it and now I'm waiting on Suzll to get back to me with her thoughts, and then I'll tweak it and post it. I'm posting any Avengers/Marvel stuff on Ao3 and will post the links here. Might even post the story here, too, since it's short.

(I have been scraping the bottom of the FIc Barrel looking for good Steve and Bucky fic, and finally there is Stuff Happening)

Oooh, that's exciting! You or Cami need to do a fic rec post for newbies like me. You two and Suzll are the only ones I know at present writing any Marvel/Avengers fic, though I did find someone called "sergeantmicky" at ff.net who has some pretty good friendship & h/c Cap & Bucky stuff. A little too Woobified Bucky for me at times and not the best in the way of grammar, but there's still something compelling and wonderful about her "A Hint of Spring" collection of stories about Cap helping Buck find himself in those first awful months after he escapes Hydra and Cap finally finds him. She nails the characters really well (minus that too-Wooby-Bucky tendency), and that to me will cover a multitude of grammar hiccups. I need to leave some reviews for it... I was reading it on my phone at odd times so I never was able to review properly.

Anyway, yes, the more Cap angst the better to go alongside the Buck angst!

Yaaay, can't wait to read your fic! *dances* Don't get me wrong, I'll take Bucky angst, too, and happily (I'm just an equal opportunity angst advocate for Cap, is all *bg*).

I actually started a rec list over here, but it is sadly out-dated since I created it shortly after The Avengers came out. I should remedy that! The main problem is that I keep reading "pre-slash" stuff with awesome sections (but which, as a whole, definitely don't wind up being something I can rec without all kinds of caveats about those sections I skimmed over... :P). "Pre-slash" is a tag that confuses me, because some of it is essentially just friendship..and some of it is definitely not. XD

I don't believe I've read anything by sergeantmicky - wewt! New recs are wonderful things. *dances* I've been hanging out on AO3 so much lately that I really haven't kept up with FFN's "up and coming" (with the exception of thegraytigress, who's a pretty solid writer, and seriously heavy on the Cap angst, even if some of her most recent stories haven't been my favorites).

[identity profile] cairistiona7.livejournal.com 2014-06-09 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I've found several good ones on ff.net... I'll do up a post as soon as I get caught up from the weekend. Which may take until Wednesday at the rate I'm going!

[identity profile] nefhiriel.livejournal.com 2014-06-09 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll look forward to it! :D

[identity profile] imbecamiel.livejournal.com 2014-06-07 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
They are So Cute. That picture of Aragorn keeping a watchful eye on Bucky is just cracking me up. And also got me thinking about the fact that, oh hey, Aragorn's only slightly younger than they are, isn't he... Yay shared life experience? XD

[identity profile] cairistiona7.livejournal.com 2014-06-09 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Bwa ha ha! That's so true! ARAGORN IS THE BABY OF THE GROUP!!

And of course now I'm hearing Tony's snarky dig about Captain Spanglepants being older than Aragorn...
