Drabble signal boost!
I did a wee bit of research for
suzll this afternoon, to help her win a bet (Elros and Elrond *are* twins in canon, per an obscure line in The War of the Jewels' "Tale of Years"). So when she said she was going to collect her winnings, I whined for a cut, since I, like, took five minutes to look something up and could have suffered a paper cut. Or something equally dire and debilitating. Plus, I was afraid my hill was about to burn down* ... so she wrote me a terrific Ranger drabble.
Read it here. :D
Thank you, my friend!
*There was a brushfire on the other side of our hill this afternoon. Lots of smoke, but there were a couple of firefighters keeping watch on our side of the hill while a few additional firefighters got their brush buggy up into the woods. They seem to have contained it to that side of the hill, so crisis averted, yay. \o/ It's still kind of smoky outside, though. *cough*

I've often wondered about that.

I have to say I've never thought about where in canon it states Elrond and Elros are twins, so it was an interesting seek-and-find mission. :)

I'm glad that it didn't come to your side of the hill!

In the winter, all the dry grasses and underbrush can easily catch fire, especially after a windy day has melted the snow and dried everything off. We've had a lot of "high fire danger" warnings this winter especially, because it's been a very windy one, and the snow cover here doesn't last much longer than a few days (our area is far enough south that we rarely get snow cover that lasts all winter).

Hehe, a drabble does indeed seem a fitting cut of the winnings. *bg* (And yiiiikes, clad to hear the fire's contained now! That can be scary stuff.)

And yiiiikes perfectly describes how I felt yesterday afternoon as I kept an eye on that smoke! Unlike up where you live, we don't have solid snow cover all winter, so fires are always a possibility, especially on high wind days. Which we've had a LOT of. I wonder what started this fire--probably the guy that lives downhill from it burning some trash or brush and it got out of hand. It *almost* seemed wet enough after the last sleet storm that it wouldn't have been a risk. Guess he learned otherwise!

And soooooo glad that crisis was averted re: the brushfire!

Today it's rainy, so if there were any lingering embers, they're out now. *whew*

Thank Goodness!
And hurrah for research skills!

Plenty of rain today, so the fire is well and truly out. *feels grateful*

Very glad it was only a small fire and that it was easily contained. Fires are very scary.
